There’s no way we’ve gotten to the point where authors are trying to use telekinesis as the “super weak but it’s actually OP” skills. Like one of the most famously strong powers that is used in one of the biggest franchises(star wars) is being portrayed as weak. Not even that, but the weakest skill in history.

I thought the point of this sub genre was that the skills supposed to actually be something seemingly useless(like knitting), and then the character changes how they look at the skill and it turns out to be good(you can unravel your enemies or something like that).

Next we’ll get an mc who has the weakest skill in history, “times stop!”

Probably telekinesis is genuinely shit in this world since it would require 2000 literal years of training (amount of years enough to progress the world from torches to computers) to be strong.

I also bet that despite that training there will still be enemies that he'll struggle against.

well no actually, the concept of a torch is as old as basic fire handling, something our ancestors have been doing for 1 or maybe even 2 million years. but 2000 will get you from the end of the iron age to computers pretty easily!

I'm sorry, I can't imagine ANY universe where "I can kill you with my mind." is seen as a "trash" skill. At best you're a superhero on par with Martian Manhunter, Jean Grey, or Superboy (who literally uses tactile telekinesis to replicate being as strong as Superman) and at worst you're a deadly opponent able to make anything around you a weapon. Take the force in Star Wars which operates similarly, even a padawan on the battlefield with the force is DEADLY. You can deflect some attacks, improve your own abilities (I'm sure any telekinesis can be used to lighten your own body and replicate a force jump), and even simply knocking someone off balance is fatal in a combat situation.

Yet we're going with that it's not only bad, but so bad you need 2000 years to try with it. **** off.
