So you're saying that I'm wrong that nothing important or interesting has happened... by arguing that something's about to? I wouldn't doubt that the series gets interesting from here, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been trudging along till now. It's funny how much wrong you are with this statement ^^ A lot of plotpoint starts with this war and the long buildup of the hero class training that looks like useless most of the time has the payoff with this battle (especially with Sogou who's one of the Main Character in the series).
Yeah I'm starting to see that you're workin' from the LN. I can get it, sometimes a source material gets butchered with a crap adaptation with weird art (though, luckily this one just seems to have an issue with giving everyone the Bum Tickley B^U face). One of the main concept of this story is "power corrupts those who hield it". And we have different ways to see this :
-The power doesn't corrupt (Ayaka, Eve, Seras, Banewolf, Gartland...)
-The power does corrupt (most characters in the series, but most notably : Vicius, Kirihara, Yasu, Muaji, the Soul Eater...)
-The ones who uses those corrupted by their powers against them (Touka).
Also... a skilless author wouldn't have written one of the best sister relationship between 2 secondary characters.
Anyone who needs enough exposition for the opening of a Star Wars movie to give a character life should go outside and actually talk to real people. Fuck, I give characters I make more life in one picture than this series has done for people outside the MC's misadventures for 50 chapters. We don't know that much about the other characters because it's a manga - expanding character takes a lot of text, which manga don't have. And obviously, expanding the other characters would require more manga pages on them -- and (some) people (including yourself) are already up in arms about the number of pages that they're already getting.
What works for a movie doesn't work for a Novel. A movie has to go to the point if it doesn't want to lose a ton of money for unnecessary scenes. The Stars Wars novels expands the movies universe and explain a lot of stuff that couldn't have been in the movie itself.Anyone who needs enough exposition for the opening of a Star Wars movie to give a character life should go outside and actually talk to real people. It reminds me So I'm a Spider so What?'s manga. The manga-onlies were so glad to not have Shun to that now they're completely lost on where the story goes... and that's in big part because the manga cut out half the story and all non-MC PoV.So you're saying that I'm wrong that nothing important or interesting has happened... by arguing that something's about to? I won't speak to the validity of what you're saying in terms of the LN, maybe it's better, maybe it's worse, but in this the characters are bland and one-dimensional the second we get away from the MC and his merry band of misfits. The theme you're speaking of, in my opinion, is there, but not portrayed in any way that feels like anything other than obligation. Again, I've worked on plenty of these series to see it myself time and time again. There're conceptually trashier series that do better to somewhat characterize the cast beyond "I'm scared and helpful" or "I'm evil and soak my cloak in jizz". Irrelevant to the LN or WN, this adaptation's writing is incredibly poor with the rest of the cast and drags on at a staggeringly slow pace so far.

You could do that with Failure Frame, but the story would make very little sense (especially by the fact Touka and Vicius rarely meet).
Yeah, this was a poor choice of metaphor on my part. What I mean is that the character of a character is in how they act. You as the author need to know their story to properly characterize them, but giving that information to the reader doesn't make them characters, it makes them lines on a page with text attached. I was using hyperbole with tooting my own horn, but I can certainly show some more expressive character pieces I've made. What works for a movie doesn't work for a Novel. Yeah, this is more what I mean with that other point about terrible adaptations and why I'm willing to concede that a lot of stuff just didn't get adapted well. Failure Frame seems like a good series and that's why I started reading it. Hell, that's why I still read it despite my problems with it. I do fully trust what you're saying here that the story seems like it's going to pick up again.
I personally take no issue with this side story being done, but the stale art and writing the adaptation presents really makes it drag on.
Which is also a fair point. I'll make a point later to reread up to now and see if my opinion changes.I understand people prefers reading Mangas instead of Light Novel. But it's the type of story it's better to have a volume full of chapters to read instead of 1 chapter every month.
I had no idea this was happening till the anime came out. I was really angry when I found out the mangaka deliberately and arbitrarily chose to cut out everything not from MC's PoV and how much that took away from the story; world building, context, different characters with their own meaningful experiences... There was already stuff I didn't understand in the manga but made sense with more context from the anime. Now I just hope there will be another season because no way I'm touching that manga again. It reminds me So I'm a Spider so What?'s manga. The tv show is basically catching up to this point? Are they not getting paid for the anime on Crunchyroll? The latest anime episode they just got to the witch tho so there’s still a little bit
That's . . . that's pretty good! I like it! Although it would then delay his being recognized by herogirl, which would be frustrating.Hopefully the MC makes an entrance declaration like "I am the Harbringer of Pestilence, the Emissary of Death. I have come to reinstate the balance of life and death. For in this place new 'life' has sprung forth in an irregular way threatening that balance." while looking at the ogre army.
Then march towards that demon and kill all ogres on the way with his stun + poison combo.
If a human approaches him he should simply also kill that human in that way.
When a human (most likely the hero girl) then asks why he killed the human, he should reply "I do not care about humans, demons and the strife between them. I only care about reinstating the balance between life and death. As long as I ensure the balance to be obtained again, it does not matter who dies in the progress - be it demons or humans."
That way he would establish a third faction and probably avoid anyone from realizing his identity.
considering how bad ppl were talking about this anime (animation and stuff, not the story) i doubt it will get a second season so the story will probably not going to reach this point in the anime version, i dropped after 2 or 3 episodes and im following just the manga. The tv show is basically catching up to this point?
