The end of the series; we're not even halfway thru the currently released novels.

Series might end with the next novel though.

Around the end of the next major arc (not the CURRENT major arc). Note that getting to the witch was the first major arc.

It doesn't end with volume 12.

He didn't ask for an exception, he believed the Lord of the Fly King's Squad to be a descendant of heroes.
I didn't say he did. I have no idea what you thought you read, but it's not what I wrote. Your answer doesn't make sense.

...As somebody who's used to level limits of 10-20 or even less, 50-60 at most and treating each level up as an achievement, levels on four freaking digits and jumping several hundreds on one go feels very cheap and like the author doesn't actually know what levelling stands for...
Different games have different scaling systems. It just depends on the math being used.

All of this build up just to get defeated so easily in one chapter feels a little disappointing ngl
That's the problem of having a lop-sided power balance in your story. The author depicted those demons as so overwhelmingly strong that one can only wonder how the humans didn't lose long ago and now those same demons get wiped so effortlessly.

On a side note: That's why personally I find the female knight way more compelling than the MC now, because he's too broken for there to be any suspense anymore.

Gaining almost 400 level at once is a tad bit much init?
Considering he's already level 2000+

He's aiming for Disgaea levels of damage, so why not aim for a crazy high level? Gotta have those damage numbers be in scientific notation to kill a goddess, after all. XD

But, as others have pointed out, this is a Big Cheese he just killed.

The demons aren't this strong all the time. There only strong when a demon lord is born, which is rare. Otherwise, they're not a big problem. Also, a huge part of the "strength" of the demon lord is his AOE debuff which affects natives, but not otherworld heroes. When there's no demon lord, there's no demon-lord AOE debuff, so natives can fight demons more easily.

There's more lore about what's going on with the demons, heroes, goddess, but that doesn't kick in until much later.

As for unexciting MC... For the MC, his skills are only part of his appeal. Much of his appeal is his calm, trickly planning and tactics. But mind-games like that are hard to present in a visual medium. IMO, the LN is more interesting because it can better present the mind-games (plus other social/character dynamics).

1. Called it! Uno Motherfucker!
2. I don’t know what’s more shocking, that he jumped so many levels or that he was that high before the fight.

I guess that makes sense, I've been wondering why he doesn't just brute force everything if his level is so obscenely higher than anyone else

Also I suppose that means E doesn't actually stand for Extra and it is actually the lowest rank lol
I'd say he's using "Extra" the same way Bakugou in My Hero Academia is using it when he calls everyone else a "bunch of shitty extras"

Part of me wants to see a "what if?" type one-shot, showing how things would have gone if Civit Gartland and co. were at this fight. The other part of me really doesn't, since it would push the next chapter even further away.

Oh wow. I didn't expect that Touka will pull a reverse trap on the demon general.

It would have gone better in the first part, but he he wouldn't have been able to fight the Inner Circle.

Eh, I've played Disgaea. This is fine.
I played the first one too... until I mistakenly went to "modify" an item in the store and saw enemies' levels on the 2000s. While I was on the 30s (after 5 scenarios, no less). I can understand a variation, but that's way too much for me. Never touched a Disgaea-like ever since, kinda-sadly.

Different games have different scaling systems. It just depends on the math being used.
I can understand that, but using numbers that big kinda cheapens the moment of levelling up, like "cool, I've level up. Who's for lunch?". I guess I'm more used to TTRPGs where levelling up are actual moments to wait and think seriously where are you going.

"The author isn't doing what I expected the author to do. Clearly the author is wrong."
"The author is so used to VRPGs systems which treat RPG mechanics like they doesn't actually matter he lost sight of what the standard RPG mechanics actually stand for; in this case, breakthroughs of potential and limits on said potential. Makes me wonder why he included them in the first place."
