Looking at the LN first volume cover, seems like it was changed in the LN and the manga is obviously following the LN.

Looks like something the publisher convinced the author to add as a way to gain attention. Its not like adding one female to the functional psychopath will change anything especially if it will still follow the general direction of the novel.

this is a bit late. but i read web novel and MC character while smart enough to plan around stupid official most of the time he just brute force his way. on the other hand he is full brown a fucking moron.

take a land and become lord and thought that he make money by having people pay more tax.
talk to corrupt noble about human trafficking and the dude legit thought that they talk about dinner with a bunch of "meat"
he fix the latter problem by selling said noble into slave, when they whiny that he only have meat and not sex slave, by a bunch of magic Ie, brute force. that was when i stop reading so idk what author really plan with mc
