My guess was whatever was up on the main street was something the parents very much did not want the child to see—the corridor became blocked off, like already predicted here, and that's why mom was so paranoid about her going to the main street.

Now, what that is, I'm not very sure. Maybe the mom wasn't her biological mom, but was someone who worked with the dad to protect the kid from her actual biological mom, who was probably a neighbor who lived on the main street? Or maybe it's got to do with the cult again, maybe they were branchoffs who wanted to keep their kid safe from the cult's eyes out in the main street? Who knows.

Tbh, the broken doll itself wouldn't have seen like a big deal to me. But the fact that it was hidden in a room and wrapped in newspaper, that's what's creepy. When I was younger, I played football inside the house and I might have broken a few statues... they got patched up and were still on display, but you could see they had been broken. Anyway, this story doesn't seem as chilling as the previous one, but let's see were it goes.
