Yeahh real soon mc gunna realise just how badly he fucked up by not chasing after the fat cunt like 10 chapters ago, cant remember how bad it really is but if I remember right, the kingdom is in ruins cause of him
The only good part about it is the fact the damage can be reversed, doesn't change the fact that his mistake ended up harming thousands of innocent people.

But can you really lay that blame at MC's feet? I mean sure if he pursued fatty as he made his escape he might of caught up, or he could have made it just in time to see him rocket off into the distance. In doing so he would need to abandon the camp and many of the non-combatants.

At some point it just becomes an issue that the governmental bodies needs to address rather then a singular person. Incompetent as they may be, it's still their job to step in when entire city blocks turns into rubble and weird fungal beings start assaulting pedestrians and the local adventurers on the street.

Indeed, it is not a frontier alchemist's job to chase dangerous criminals. The only one that can be really blamed, is the demon who made the renegade alchemist go berserk. If not for that, the problem could be resolved with some fines and changes of positions in the institute.

Well it's not really a matter if the mc needs blame or not, but how much of a mistake it was.
One reason cops dread letting one "get away" is that if they get away, there's a good chance they can reoffend, if they are a dangerous criminal/someone willing to kill well, do the math.

But the MC isn't part of any enforcement organization. Granted his position in the frontier camp might include some implied authorities, but not in any way to what an off duty police offer would have.

Think of it more like a security guard who discovered an arsonist after they lit the building on fire. Is their job arresting the arsonist or doing their best to report and extinguish the fire?

Yes it does allow the potential for the arsonist to start another fire, but said deviant would be doing so against individuals that are aware of his intentions and more prepared hinder his efforts. Not a perfect solution, but it's at least one that is within the scope of the guards responsibilities and authority.

The name of dragon is really confusing, like I thought he said this
"Sei look go up high."

I forgot for a second that it's the name of dragon

I said it before, but the reality is that if the capital of the country couldn't deal with that level of threat, then the whole country was about to fall in any case. Had Rust done things differently, the capital might not have fallen that day, but it would have fallen the next day. This has got absolutely nothing to do with Rust. He chased McFungus away from Kalin's domain, which was exactly and fully what he was supposed to do. He's not a judge and executioner. Kalin even reported the incident back to the capital. It's unknown if anyone there was receiving the report, but that's, again, the capital's problem.

It's funny to think an alchemist working to establish a new village in the hinterlands would suddenly be responsible for saving the whole kingdom. If he was, wouldn't he be the bloody king?
