Seems like she was playing both sides to whatever suited her family benefits. That why the Loen can smell her scent all over the Lord's brother. A hoe, but with a pedigree, basically.Aight so lemme get this straight. The wife's family is trying to take Lord Ensire, her husband's territory, all for herself? Did I get that right?
And what about the wife's "sweet smell" then? It was mentioned a few times so I thought that was something important but I still don't understand.

I'm a bit confused. She is working for her own family, when the brother overthrew her husband she must have informed them, she may even have incited him to do it.
The smell is less some kind of MacGuffin and more an observation. Bard was analyzing tendency, so to speak, basing his conclusion on his knowledge of courts and behavior, he concluded first that she was a vain person, after the revelation of what happened to the true lord and the existence of the son, he came to his second conclusion... that her family was planning to take that territory for themselves using the confusion as an excuse.
If Bard didn't "interfere", they would have just waited for things to boil a little more and acted as if they were investigating things, now they will attack with the excuse of "helping" and lord Ensire will "have died by his brother's hand".
Lord Ensire will probably be killed.I'm a bit confused.
What happened to Lord Ensire after Bard left? Will she attack Lord Ensire? If Bard predicted so, why he didn't help Lord Ensire (because he is a gentleman?)?
Yeah, this is definitely one of my favorite mangas, possible my utmost fave. I don't quite understand all the politics but I really love the moral/philosophical theme, especially as strongly expressed in this chapter, of the beauty that comes in accepting even the hardships of life, ranging from oneself growing old to dealing with the machinations of those above you.Always a treat to read a new chapter of this, such a warm manga
Ty for tl!
Lord Ensire will probably be killed.
And Bard didn't help because... he is human, yes he is a good man, a great one even but nobility's peeves are complex and normally just too complicated to involve yourself with them.
And sure... you can say that he already involved himself with such dramas.. but in those cases, he couldn't turn back because the people involve resolved to chase him or he already was cornered, or was something too related to him. Even in this one the brother somehow convinced himself that Bard was there to investigate when he could just let him be and absolutely nothing would have happened.
Bard just wants to live his last years having some fun and eating good food, meeting good people, and maybe help where he can, but even then... there needs to be moments when to know where to back off and let things play out, for his own good and those close to him.
Well, it’s going to be a conflict for sure, but whether Lord Ensire got killed or the Persare family got purged is not known and not Bard’s business either (he’s just a traveler now).I'm a bit confused.
