The book version of this chapter was gruesome. She pretty much watched him chop the kid and woman to pieces and shove them in a fridge. Then he beat the shit out of her. It was really hard to read

I read the novel before, one of it strongest point is the way the word are beautifully used. Sadly, they make it short here. Change of pace is kinda fast (but angst go away in 2 chapter so not bad either).
We already know at the beginning her dad can't have kid beside MC, so not surprise baby isn't him. And he is crazy, hot temper, alcoholic, abusive, so it isn't weird he kill both in the moment of heat (real life happen all the time)

I came back to after a while to binge the last 20 chapters... Woah that's a lot of stuff. The pace is has beem pretty bizzare but man losing control and resorting to violence was a theme present in the story since the start, i guess.
Just hope my girls will have some peace and quiet from now on so they can both sort their fellingsand lives... So sad for the stepmother and the child, they didn't deserve sunch a fate.

I'm actually not surprised he killed her as jarring as it is while the set up of the murder was certainly abrupt given what we knew about the father and the fact that it was implied that the baby wasn't his it's not shocking he found out and caused and incident and it's genuinely scarily common for men to kill women because of cheating less common for them to also kill a baby but not that surprising there's a lack of tension that should be present though so while I don't think these events came out of nowhere the set up was lacking and the tension is virtually non existent so it just kinda feels clunky and unsatisfying this murder arc could have been stretched about three more chapters to give it room to breathe
