In these last chapters, we see more of the nuances of cultivators, some may like and almost worship the path but others still feel the weight of what the leave behind, i like this.

Does someone know what will happen with the old man? With what he said it is implied that the sect will "retire" him... but will they just kill him or use his body for something? Cultivators do seem to be the type that loves recycling... leave nothing to waste.

The art has only been getting better, i love this rough but completely accomplished style, it just oozes personality.

How come she became immortal while brother Liang was so able yet he's dying of old age? Is it because he didn't respect the boundaries and gave his own blood to achieve power or is it something else I'm missing? (yes I know we need more chapters to answer but still, it's pretty tragic...)

@Mr_1RaE could be for lot of reasons : she somehow could surpass him (luck, hard work, object or predisposition) or he could have been hindered (bad luck or no incentives, curse or battle). Or both.

For my part I think after the battle his cultivation was hindered, seeing how the sect works he must have been sent into to wild which slow down drastically his cultivation opportunities and he just accepted to die of old age.

In the flashback they're fighting for a Foundation Establishment Pill and it's implied she's the one who uses it. So with the help of the pill she advances to the Foundation Establishment stage (maybe adds ~100 years to lifespan), but he'll die in the Qi Gathering stage. And even with the pill, breaking through to Foundation Establishment stage isn't guaranteed, so it makes more sense for her to take it since he suffers a big injury from that technique.

gah! i love this. even that roughness when he killed the snake just works so well with the atmosphere of the whole series. great start so far imo, and interesting to start seeing some upper lvl sect members. gonna be some crazy shit. oh and that old guy (sorry sorry always forget names immediately except our lil mo lol) is super badass, some serious courage to use that move back then

There's also a bit of a parallel between Mo and the old guy (Brother Liang?), in that from what we have seen, he walked a more noble/honourable path among the cultivators.

The sacrifices he made for his junior sister in the past, and even in the recent present, he chooses to go out of his way to save the city from the beast tide rather than doing better things with his remaining time. And then saves Mo and his senior sister as well.

If he was more selfish... he probably could've gone further...
His path is definitely one of Mo's what-if's (possible futures). But since Mo has met the "evil cat", it's all good.

Pretty sure @yphakeem is right. It is said that they were outer disciple so they aren't supposed to got there hand on a Foundation Establishment pill but they somehow managed to steal one. And if she is the one who used it then it's easy to see how she surpassed him.
