It took a bigass long time but I have finally read the end...very good.
And to who disliked it, this author made some messed up stories in the past, this one had legal troubles but was good for all readers and gave us that '90 feel that is disappearing every day.

@123iamking The boy grows up through the story. Thats also a terrible assumption to make. Hope you're trolling but im not one to tell others to humble themselves.

In this manga, I see:
*The boy (really bad at school, addict to video games, girl is greater than future (only study because of girl, not because he needs it, when girl gone, stop studying), hang out with gangs) is how the author picture himself.
*The story (girls love him and fight over him) shows his fantasy.
*The drawing style show how he see the world: ugly, hatred.

If what I see is true, the author must be a pathetic loser.

But beside all that, the character Hidaka is pretty interesting.

Small review:
Summary. Extremely generic, cliched and overrated piece of nostalgia porn.

In more detail, with non-specific spoilers(there is very little to actually spoil here):
Main character is a generic romance shounen protagonist.
Female lead is a generic introverted ojousama character, who is also mute, but it never gets addressed or used so it's a thing that's just there.
Fighting and arcade stuff is for the most part just a backdrop and barely ever gets used properly and pretty much never to the full extent, considering that female lead is MUTE. Nothing more than nostalgia porn. The author may know his shit, but other than show off his easily googleable knowledge he does very little with it.
Most of the plot revolves around "ojou-sama" status of the female lead. And it's generic and cliched.
The ending is as generic and unsatisfying as the rest of it if not more, because the author wants people to buy the spin-off.

No epilogue... this feels incomplete :/

I mean it is obvious what will happen, but why not show it?

@123iamking Have you actually read this? Haruo is a great protagonist, he grows throughout the story, he tries hard at what he wants, gets a part time job, has a great relationship with his friends and mother, his actions you complained about are shown to be genuine flaws which gets touched on. He only hung around a gang for a short amount of time and has been shown to be an upstanding kid.

It's a fucking love triangle story, of course there are two girls in love with him that's what the genre means. But unlike all the other shit stories, we get proper development for them and we see them fall in love with him gradually and realistically for their own reasons.

His art style is just his art style. The world was never shown to be ugly or filled with hatred, there are no real, "villains". Every time we see an opposition, we see that they have their own reasons for their behaviour and get a turn to good. People are just normal humans in this.

You can call the author a loser but he's the one who made a highly successful manga with a complete anime adaptation by Netflix and multiple others and which was also highly rated positively.

How is Haruo generic shounen protagonist? He works hard, has development throughout the manga, even the final fucking chapter he is shown the be growing, he gradually becomes more and more mature throughout the manga, gets a job, gets a license, has close friends. Both girls fall in love with him for genuine deep reasons gradually.
The video gaming portion is as detailed as it can go without distancing non video gaming audience, you have clearly never once read this manga. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

The ending was great, it wrapped the story in a good manner with the storyline coming full circle showing Haruo's growth and his determination. The spin off was announced years after the manga's end and isn't even focusing on the two main characters. Actually read the stuff you criticize.

So I'm guessing Ceil Scans won't release their own version of the last chapters. Kinda sad cuz I've only read their TL.
