I know alot of people complained about how sayu didn't really get together with yoshida but I felt like it rang true to his character ig, however good or bad u think it may be. Yes I think a quiet ending like this felt right and it was a enjoyable ride.

I still prefer boss or kouhai ending. As someone who have been working in real world, if I relate myself to Yoshida's life, I would never dare to pick Sayu. No matter how far the author made Sayu growing up, she is still a kid. Yoshida should never rely on anything Sayu did despite how lonely he is. I don't know why people hate Gotou-san because Gotou-san is just a normal high-achieving woman that you can meet in every office. Kouhai is the sanest and normal person here so she also deserved to win. If it is true that the author originally pick Gotou-san ending, then that is realistic.
At the end, by having Sayu ending, I can unrelate myself and forget about this manga once and for all.

from what i've seen looking around it seems the other way around, the sayu ending is the main plan, the gatou ending is mostly a side story that the author wrote because he wanted to tell her story and even admitted that it wouldn't fit well. People are still arguing whether its canon but from the afterwords its easy to just say its a stand alone/spinoff written after the fact because the author wanted to conclude each character since the characters are supposedly heavily OOC

The common thread I've seen between Romance and Battle Manga is the fanbases are 100% willing to put their own crappy agendas over the characters' and author's desires. Sometimes, authors NEED to be stopped, obviously (Domestic Girlfriend intensifies), but, everyone acting like the editor was right in stopping the author's vision here is a cad.

God forbid you meet someone when they're a teenager, and they fall in love with you and get with you later.
The funniest thing about the bitchy rich mother in this series is that those are the only people that get away with creepy age gaps: shitty rich people. If it's a hardworking office dude, who falls in love with someone he helped without taking advantage of whatsoever who is younger than him, concern trolls, who will always look the other way IRL, come out of the woodwork like termites.

Growing up, I was often watched by our neighbors who we called "Aunt and Uncle". They loved each other dearly, and he was about 2 decades older than her. Dude served in WW2 (on the good side), and the gooners on Mangadex/other forums will tell you it's a gross relationship, when the dude was the most stalwart person I've met in my life, and good to everyone. He made me a Scooby Doo toy for my birthday once, lol, super chill guy.

Consensual/loving age gap relationships are normal, read history instead of reeeeeeing if you disagree. Going after young people is gross. God forbid geezers could learn the damn difference. Biggest reason I stopped desiring to be a writer is because editors/publishers have no respect for art and pretend to care about ethics like gigantic hoes.

Parently the author considers it Canon.... his LN notes with something like "I had long discussions with my editor and I couldnt decide on the ending for a long time, but then we did this and I think maybe Im ok with this"..... and more or less thats all the official thing he said about it ... so yeah it sux, its canon.

Loved it. The subplot's frayed a bit but as a story about an adult giving a vulnerable teen the help she needs despite societal norms, and in turn have his life given color, it managed to convey the complex and conflicting feelings that the characters feel.
In regards to Yoshida and Sayu's relationship, they managed to show deep care for each other even if romance was not on the table. I almost want to say it's filial but not quite.

And I heard Gotou wins in the end so it's a win for us boobs men

Not gonna lie, I enjoyed the idea of the story where a rational, sane grown-up person would take proper care of a youngster. The fact that there are still decent human beings out there willingly helping those who have no place to go home to (more so when it comes to kids/youngsters). Still laughed my ass off reading comments where people would just ignore kids because they’re afraid of being considered a pedophile.

Man, you have no idea how much I was hoping for this to be that. In the end the only decent things were that he cared for her and he didn't prey upon her, felt like. So much wrong with his head.
