I worry. "I want to spend time with them" can quickly evolve into "I need to spend time with them" and then "I need them to spend time with me." Got a friend who's been dealing with that in her own friend group.
super fair concern, it won't be an easy balance for them to find and they're still working off limited understandings of themselves and each other. For these two at least, they probably won't get anywhere close to finding that balance without having that time spent together, unless they get a miraculous third party to help mediate, and the closest thing we've seen to that is the hairdresser lol

Please no I don't think I can wait for that long the wait hurts
You can always learn rudimentary Japanese and google translate/kanji dictionary your way through as best you can. That's what I ended up doing. 頑張る💪

I think the biggest thing right now is just the fact that they are only 15.

At 15, they lack the language and cognitive self-awareness to fully understand their own issues, let alone explain it to someone else. So when Tomikawa is being manic depressive, she's just "feeling down" and has to leave it at that. When Hiiragi is mentally regressing and suffering trauma flashbacks, she's just "in her own head." Not to mention Hiiragi having some amount of repressed memories that she can't even process or recall.

The hairdresser can recognize Tomikawa's PTSD enough to identify it by name, but at the end of the day their relationship is still customer and hairdresser - Hiiragi is a friend, and can actually connect on a deeper level. But I think they're going to clash and butt heads some before they're able to fully understand each other.

My first thought was that maybe Tomikawa recognized what she was doing and bumrushed to get the donuts as a result. Last chapter she recognized that Hiiragi hadn't actually done anything wrong, and she knows that she's being put through academic abuse.

That tells me Tomikawa has a certain degree of self-awareness, even if it's clouded by her emotional instability. So I theorize she realized what she was doing, maybe freaked the fuck out about being like her mom/driving away Hiiragi/etc, and in her mania blitzed to get the donuts in a misaimed attempt at reconciliation.

So, y'know. Two steps forward, one step back.
