They make it pretty plain, but I do enjoy that he so utterly fulfills the "want" side of Prez's little metaphor. "Selfish" is way too much of an understatement in his case, but the parallel drawn in neon marquee is still satisfying to see when it's highlighting the devastation wrought upon him.

I wonder if he'll continue to factor in and become a convert at some point. I hope not, but, this is the sort of story to do that sorta thing, so.

New guy is then going to see the rejection, shoot his shot and get a very short but polite "Oh, uh. No, sorry."
