He's also not directly related to Koharu and her past, from what I recall--this is strictly a "this timeline" antagonist, and more for Izumi than anyone else.

So for him to be "redeemed/rehabilitated" by Koharu would feel a bit odd.

Unsurprisingly no. This guy could very well be the first. However:

Nagato is a cookie cutter popular clique two-faced mean-girl character, except, well, he's a guy. Characters of this type in fiction often have some sort of problematic background, as in theres an underlying issue that they turned that way. And its usually either a superiority complex, or an inferiority complex.

We will see in the following chapters, but I will bet that Nagato is designed to be Izumi's foil, and thus his elementary/middle school year had similar issues like him. It's just that he either took the wrong lessons out of it, or he was sitting on the opposite side of the clique compared to Izumi.

Then Izumi will learn of this, gets some advice from Koharu, and knocks some sense into Nagato. Probably.

It sounds to me he has very low self worth and trying to be cocky to hide it. This manga had forgiven worse character so eh...

Honestly, the harem is the worst part of this story. It's unnecessary. Almost everything can be accomplished with friendship instead of romantic motive.
