He probably understood that the most likely scenario, if Himegasaki was truly home alone, is that he saw a ghost behind her. That's why he wanted to run away as fast as possible, even if he was leaving his GF alone. Or at least that's the only reasonable explanation why he wanted and insisted on bailing as soon as he made sure she was safe and wasn't stolen from him
