Hoping for Ishikawa's failure isn't enough, I need to participate in it.

Man, I love this manga, its characters, the interactions, and so on, but I seriously, at the risk of sounding like a hater, believe that
this love triangle has overstayed its welcome and is, at this point, detrimental to the story.
I kinda get the feeling, but I also dont see any how this can go any faster without being even more of a detriment to the story.

Let me guess. In the next chapter she'd either vomit or maybe they run up to hiroto at some point

This feel like its so over for him, bizarre gift, bizarre way to ask a date, now she doesn't even enjoy the date. There might be a tiny chance if she vomit and he can pull a right move, but I doubt it he can do it after all of that.

Why's everyone being so hard on the poor dude? Yeah, he's awkward and over-prepared, but our main prize here spent the night before her date hard drinking and not getting any sleep, threw on some random shit she found, and went out hung over. You'd have to really try to put in less effort, and cancelling the date entirely would be less disrespectful to the guy.

The guy is just doing his best, however there's just not much chemistry for him to work with. Girl should realise she's not into him instead of passively following along.

wonder how well a surprise would play off irl, but i guess depends on how 'charming/effective' it is, tho even an 'overly scheduled' date seems like it'd be exhausting, unless japanese dating culture it's implied you're spending basically half or the whole date together, hotel room aside, versus like 1-2 hours.

might be better to discuss it tho, esp on a 'first date' if it's not something your friends push you into like a 'blind date' or so, bc if you're already over the awkwardness of asking out and agreeing, other than the 'cliche' date stuff/spots it'd be good to ask what they'd be up for (i do remember one manga chapter of a series where a girl was complaining that her bf planned some 'hiking' date as a surprise? but she wasn't told and she showed up into the date in heels b/c she thought it was gonna be a 'normal' date)

Tho other than the 'affectionate' part like holding hands and maybe a kiss at the end (tho that might be a bit much for a 'first date' even in shoujo manga depending on how fast things go), feels like they could've treated it as a 'casual friend hangout' without the pressure of it being a 'date' or so lol.
