So the antagonist is comically 2 dimensional.. way too evil and stupid.. I wish the antagonists in the Yuri series were complex..
I know he’s just like that, pretty cocky in there and he’s pretty much begging to be beaten down, but in his defense, we still don’t know how much he can do and how much power he is hiding.
Of course he’s not complex as of now, but I believe he doesn’t need to be. Power-hungry villains are straightforward and they want to salvage all that power and feel the strength, and that’s just how it is, but it’s still works for a lot of media.
For a lack of better word, they serve as a stepping stone for the protagonists to develop better, but until he dies, we won’t know for sure what’s the deal.
I mean, we have seen a bunch of antagonists fighting them now. And that’s just how it is. They fight for survival and each time a villain dies and then our protagonists develop a bit and get closer.
There’s also a slippery slope for the antagonists they encounter to get more developed and intelligent as they proceed, so I think that counts as complex?
But whatever, I’m just rambling. Yuri series are usually very different from the Battle Shounen Ai kind (mostly men) which requires them to have this back and forth with the same villain, so just give them some time I guess.
