Just like the last set of knights, these guys are used to punching down. They didn't even bother checking the river to ensure she's dead.

Still, Shurine's on her back foot here. She'll probably start playing dirty at this point, which is probably bad news for everyone else. She's been fighting head-on up until this point, so I'm curious as to how she'll get out of this bind.
You mean like in Ghost of Tsushima?

.....Why do I feel like the knight  intentionally played things out like that, specifically so he could give Shurine a believable death? The dude seems to be all about honor and loyalty and openly acknowledged her skill rather than the usual arrogant ignorance of most antagonists. To suddenly take a swing at the noble lady- who they currently need alive- seems like a downright jarring display of deceit and cowardice. All the moreso that right after he calmly acknowledged her being able to cut him and the possibility that he would have lost had it continued as a straight 1v1.

Makes me think he provoked this after seeing what Shurine was capable of, specifically to make sure she could come back and rescue the noble girl with the element of surprise.
There's no excitement without retaliating the heroine, right? It needs a little drama for the heroine's come back.

Thanks for the upload!
I wonder what happened to the assassin-maid. She'll probably work with Shurine to rescue Lutecia.

Also spoiler, after this arc, there is still the magic fortress arc because shurine lose her arm and lutecia want to get her a robotic arm.

So much suspese! I can't wait to find out what torturous, slow but ignominious end he will meet.

This knight really gambled that Shurine would be able to make it in time to intercept the attack on Lutecia eh.

Imagine if she didn't even bother and just gunned for him in that opening instead.

When Shirune used her counter attack she should have just done the same thing and aimed it at the weak "prince". Make him take the fall and the knights without a lord have no reason to continue fighting.

regicide is generally a Big Fucking Deal, and even a foreigner like Shirune would know enough to not detonate that bomb right here and now - especially while her charge is still very much in the clutches of his loyal cronies who could very believably slaughter her out of simple vengeful anger.

So the antagonist is comically 2 dimensional.. way too evil and stupid.. I wish the antagonists in the Yuri series were complex..
I know he’s just like that, pretty cocky in there and he’s pretty much begging to be beaten down, but in his defense, we still don’t know how much he can do and how much power he is hiding.

Of course he’s not complex as of now, but I believe he doesn’t need to be. Power-hungry villains are straightforward and they want to salvage all that power and feel the strength, and that’s just how it is, but it’s still works for a lot of media.
For a lack of better word, they serve as a stepping stone for the protagonists to develop better, but until he dies, we won’t know for sure what’s the deal.

I mean, we have seen a bunch of antagonists fighting them now. And that’s just how it is. They fight for survival and each time a villain dies and then our protagonists develop a bit and get closer.

There’s also a slippery slope for the antagonists they encounter to get more developed and intelligent as they proceed, so I think that counts as complex?

But whatever, I’m just rambling. Yuri series are usually very different from the Battle Shounen Ai kind (mostly men) which requires them to have this back and forth with the same villain, so just give them some time I guess.

So where's the people last chapter saying that attacking the princess was the worst thing they could do because then the bodyguard would have no restraint? lol

Nope, entirely predictable (not that this is bad) how that plays out.

This has become comically bad.

Also a reminder that all of this happened thanks to the maid feeding them info since the start and they are only alive because of their absurd plot armor (FMC and the maid would be killed as soon as the duel/fight was over. Or at least FMC since she is a nobody. Oh right, she fell in to the river, so hard to track lol)
