@Qelix, he's actually been mentioned/namedropped once/twice back at ch.5 when Haruka first encountered the delinquents (basically, like he confirmed this chapter, he was the other go-to person other than the geeks to learn skills/different world stock knowledge. Judging from the raws, we'll get the backstory in later chapters. The fight is actually quite long.

As you'd expect from the adaptation, they cut quite a few things to shorten/fit the narrative. One main thing they shortened or barely tackle in the adaptation is the repeated fact that MC literally has trouble remembering names (they speed up the joke here, but its constantly being repeated *not boring for me actually, the LN translations does a remarkable job in explaining the Class head's motives for example other than being portrayed annoying here, and as for Haruka's name problem *his inner narrative is actually hilarious!*, Tanaka was only namedropped probably once but is the ONLY person Haruka has remembered the name so far. Actually, the start of the LN is literally their actual fight then shifts to the beginning/world summoning.
