Especially when Maho is in an excellent position to be the “powerful party” that tames the forbidden dungeon and bring prosperity to the land!

Better yet, if my assumption is correct, Maho is basically the new dungeon manager/final boss. And she is a source of infinite resources. So she is easily able to become at least as, if not more powerful, than the local lord.

Some parts confused me so I checked the raws myself, hope this helps (and please correct me if I got anything wrong):

1.
raw: ギルドはこの国営の管理局のことを指す

P8: Guilds are appointed by the governmental administration bureau.

I think: Guilds are the administrative offices for government managed dungeons.

2.
raw: 買取所くらいは作ったんだけどね

P8: At least there are places to buy things here, though...

I think: At least they managed to set up a place that buys things from the adventurers, though...

3.
raw: 国営じゃダメなの？

P8: Not in the governmental ones?

I think: Then why not make it government managed?

"You can buy your way out of death" sounds a lot like "you can buy your way out of hell"

Thats bullshit, this whole thing is bullshit, thats a scam, fuck the church, here's 95 reasons why.

For real, part of the problem here is that if this was a low-cost or even free service, then you'd have every tom, dick, and harry coming to you for resurrections. And it's clearly implied that there aren't many priests who can reliably pull this off. In fact, it's even implied that there's an extreme likelihood that a resurrection will fail. Fail twice? You don't even go to the afterlife - complete oblivion!

And before you say "But what if that's a lie?" consider this: if the church really was corrupt, then they'd keep this fact hidden. Why? Because if they were to keep this hidden, then none of these wealthy elite would have any compunctions about buying as many resurrections as they felt was needed.

In fact, that'd be a good way for the church to milk them for all they're worth. Simply hide the fact that failing Attempt 2 means oblivion, and keep pumping them for money, casting resurrections until they've been sucked dry.

As for the exorbitant cost? Well, if there's only a few priests around that might be able to pull it off, then that means there's a very high demand. And the only way you can curb that demand is by jacking up the prices sky-high.

See, this is the funny inverse about the rule of supply and demand that most folks don't realize: that when something is legitimately in short supply (and not due to a "manufactured" scarcity like that egg shortage we had a while back), raising the per-unit cost is an effective way curbing the demand.

And that's the logic behind it. It's pretty harsh logic, but it's just like astronauts making calculations for burns to change or maintain orbits. Too much mass, not enough delta-v, not enough fuel... it's the difference between life and death, and economics can be every bit as cruel this way.
