No, every first chapter of each volume is free, which is actually pretty good way to do it to get people who doesnt pirate to get interested.

For those who subscribe, each chapter is available for two months, unless the series is in catch-up where subscribers can read every volume.

Imo its a decent way to do this, at least compared other solutions out there.

For me its a great way to get my weekly fix of bookworm and a few other series
