This great art is wasted on such a shit clichéd story.

Those whining about people who give it a low score don't get that a lot of men value trust and loyalty above all and once you break their heart once, no amount of feeling sorry or trying to make up for it will ever make them forgive you. That's why the ex is super repulsive to anyone who ever experienced betrayal and had to get over it.

Add to that the typical misunderstanding-based shit plot, where characters are put on a situation that could ruin both their lives and yet they chose to avoid communicating frankly, and you have the perfect recipe for a manga that will make a lot of people rage whenever they read it.

First chapter was pretty good then it quickly went downhill. 10 chapters in and we already have a dumbass love square and like 5 misunderstandings that will take 50 chapters to clear up because manga characters never just communicate

May be because I haven't read a lot of these trope / misunderstanding type plot stuff, but I actually think that this manga isn't half bad?? I'm kinda enjoying it??? is it just me...

We know this is a damn frustration-inducing plot but it's the kind of dumpster fire that I want to throw myself into cuz who knows what the author could be cooking (or idk I watched too many Korean soap operas in my childhood and that affected me)

INCELS <------> SIMPS
C'mon people. Reasons for doing this shit:
1) Health problems (THE MOST FUCKING CLICHE in almost every damn manga) i.e. probs. she had to move or will move to Germany for operation. During middle school she was diagnosed with fatal disease and in order to help him forget her she decided to do something that potentially might ruin guys teenage and young adult love life but would guarantee that he would give up on her (mind you not forget about her, you don't forget easily who betrayed you). But i digress, so now during her high school or college years she discovered that she can be cured but she needs to travel to Germany for the treatment which will take her 1-2 years maybe. <--- The most cliche shit i presume will happen. Overused copy-paste narration.

2) Parents divorced, she had to move to Germany..........But something happened and she stayed but it was too late.

3) She was doormated. Either through intimidation OR What one of the people here commented, her friend was interested in him and asked her to break up with him because she is in love with him. (also quite possible since one image showed us AND author needed to point out for some reason that she was a doormat and that she needed to change before facing him again <--- Irredeemable act in my opinion if #1 Is overused troupe but has some tangible legitimacy even though her reasoning is moronic even in her years then #3 Is the greatest disappointment because my suspicion is they will get back LOOK BELOW WHY.

Let me ask the general public who calls everyone INCELS, have you ever been cheated on? Do you comprehend what damage it does to you? Especially if your first love who you still loved during fragile years basically tells you, after we started dating I also made out with 3 other guys and we are currently dating.
The amount of damage is something that cannot healed properly without leaving a massive scar EVEN if she tells it was a lie.
Let's look at it like that, she crushed this guy that he didn't consider dating right until he came to UNI, meaning he held trauma at least for 4 years minimum. Her little lie damaged him and left him dry and out of love for 4 years. Her actions also brought major trust issues that would follow him probably throughout his whole life even when all lies were resolved. I would have the same opinion if genders were reversed, damage doesn't differentiate between genders.

In my sober opinion the best course would be, for her to take a hard pill of letting him go (hey she didn't even plan on resolving the lie, she just met him on accident). Help him get together with her friend and let the man have his peace.
Why so? People who hurt us even after many even if you forgave them if they are in our life's they are a constant reminder of the "bad days". Hell, I remember a story about ol'chap saying that he forgave his wife after cheating and after 30 fucking years he still had "triggers" (don't know what he meant exactly but it was either some sort of PTSD where he was depressed all of the sudden or fits of rage towards her). Now from our MC's perspective he will always have doubts about her and her going out with friends would be a trigger to remember her breaking up with him. Basically speaking she would be his very own torturer.
1)She didn't plan on resolving the lie.
2)Their meeting wasn't planned.
3)She bulldozed in his life.
4)Guy was on a path of recovery.
She simply uses a chance that fate gave them to reconcile, she doesn't acknowledge or even brood what she has done. She keeps on bending the time to start his healing process. In my opinion this person is a ignorant walking nightmare, it it weren't for "convenient" magic he would never reconcile with her. It's almost akin to when you want divorce someone before the divorce you have a cooling off period where you basically forced to interact with perpetrator. (In some states or in some situations)

Also they will probably will get back together, remember that almost every positive and romantic interaction was with Lemon being MC. As for MC he had for the most part generic friendly interactions with her. On the other hand Lemon and MC had already a few events that "mended" their past grievances. Girl still loves him and a guy has a resurging interest in her.

the comments is so fascinating
I know, right? I just came here out of curiosity and end up seeing the most unhinged comments section I've read in a while. This is why I try to avoid other people who like manga & anime.

This is a cute, cliché-filled romcom. Nothing more, nothing less. That's fine. I like to eat Burger King once in a while, too. And guess what? Most manga is created in the same cliché-filled junk food mindset because of the nature of Japan's publishing industry.

If you find yourself saying that "two nukes weren't enough" about a silly romcom comic, you need to spend less time reading manga, watching anime, and getting your sexual politics from fucking 4chan and more time outside of your home, talking to real human beings.

Lemon seems like a decent person. I'm only up to chapter 7, but her only major faults so far are telling a stupid lie when she was—what?—fourteen or fifteen years old and then not explaining it to Sunao as soon as the body swapping started.

Here's a fun thought experiment: A lot of people here are seething about Lemon telling a stupid lie to Sunao in middle school even though he's someone she cares about. Why aren't those same people mad that Sunao hasn't tried to explain the body swapping to Natsumi if she's supposedly so important to him? It would be trivially easy to prove with Lemon's cooperation, it would simplify their daily lives, and it would be the honest thing to do instead of keeping this massive secret from someone he claims to love. The fact that he's pulling off a fairly intrusive act of deception on Natsumi doesn't really seem to bother him too much. It's a double standard.

(The real answer is because it wouldn't be fun if this cute romcom was written in such a dry way. You have to put up with such conceits if you want to enjoy this kind of fiction. Grow up, lol.)

I think this story is decent. Romcoms based on absurd communication errors and minor magic hijinks are extremely common in manga, but it doesn't promote any weird fetishes, the female characters aren't given a cutesy aesthetic (which always makes me uncomfortable) and treated as the male characters' equals, and there's even a character who isn't horrible at communication (the best friend). So I'll probably stick with it and hope it doesn't get cancelled.

Smartest take in this whole comment section. And it's helped by the translator doing a great job with the localization. Each character has a unique voice and talks like a real person instead of a manga trope.

Simply waiting for the axe at this point. It is written all over this incoherent dumpster fire.

This is such a strange, awful series. Not because the plot is or ever will be interesting, but because these characters are all so annoying and disgusting. And instead of having any real character development, the writer just introduces new awful characters to stall with.
So many decent romcoms get axed before they get to breathe, while this bizarre, grotesque thing will get over 100 chapters. I kind of already assumed romcom readers were the bad taste champions of Japan, but the ongoing popularity of this series just reinforces that bias.

Just gonna speak for myself, but I at least initially found the cast fairly relatable and well-rounded. For example Sunao imho has a pretty realistic character sheet on paper: he is in college (like many manga readers.) He likes movies, that’s actually pretty nice. He took an incident with his first girlfriend in high school the hard way, this looks a bit staged to me, but ok I’ll take it. He has really low self-esteem, a bit overused at this point, but ok, him not standing up for himself annoys me recently, though.

That Raika girl sadly chucks that realism out the window, though. Maybe it’ll remain bearable, if she remains a minor character.
