It's not common to see a work where they use the word lesbian to identify a lesbian.
Most of the time, they implied it or they leave it vague or use other terms more hetero friendly? like yuri.
The only times where I see the word lesbian use so commonly is when the author is also a lesbian in real life or they are in the LGBTQ community.

Yumeko could only work part time from home because she has been taking care of her grandmother. For 26 years. She is also determined to look for full time employment. Calling a woman like her a "nobody" just makes you sound like you look down on women doing elder care either as a profession or forced by circumstance.

Whether yuri manga uses words like "lesbian" or "LGBTQ+" is not determined by the author's identity. Even if it does not, calling it hetero-friendly makes as much sense as saying that straight romance manga is gay-friendly if it does not explicitly refer to the main characters as "heterosexual" or "straight". It's the story and content that makes yuri manga what it is.

In either case, in the next chapter, Yumeko will say that she's a lesbian, using that exact word. If you didn't see that coming, you especially have no business speculating about a creator's gender and sexual orientation and making other unfounded assumptions about them.

The "boyfriend" in the synopsis is an artifact of the translation. Both the original synopsis and the original script only use 'koibito' which is a gender neutral term.

But I can recognize that my words were not inclusive enough. Nothing can stop a homophobic person from using the word 'lesbian' or 'gay'. But you wouldn't change my mind about the fact that the ones using it in a more respectful way, without ulterior motive, are people who are concerned or empathetic about LGBTQ+ communities. What's got you so butthurt boiling over a bunch of nothing. I'm calling out the cliche because almost every romance nowadays is about nobodies pairing up with a "somebody" of higher league. That's how the author illustrates this character, low self esteem and anxious they ain't good enough.

Get with the program mate, I don't make the rules, this is how they lure us to watch their character growths. She's a nobody just like all the other nerd, otaku, jobless, virgin, weakling, overlooked and loser MCs out there, they're all under-valued glow ups waiting to happen...

This is the copycat work I had in mind when making my comment, you're the one making assumptions at people while pointing daggers.

Reaffirms what you said? I'm the one who pointed out that Yumeko in this series explicitly calls herself a lesbian, not you. You would not have said all that if you had clocked any "signs" here, so it's kind of funny that now you try to backpedal on it.

Also, note that unlike you, I did not call you an idiot or even implied that you were dumb. I just meant that your comment was based not on facts but vibes, assumptions, stereotypes. I would like to think that if I were to post something like that, someone would call me out on it too.

I never expected to change your mind about the things you choose to believe. I mostly wanted to present a more evidence-based perspective for other people who might read the comments.
