I think the author tried making a too complex character that would take a lot more time to become likable. To me it feels like she teases him to hurt herself, not him exactly. She told everyone he asked her out because she thought she didnt deserve him and wanted to tank her chances at happiness or something. I guess the author will have to dump all his reasoning in the last chapter but there's no way they could have pulled off a complex character like that without better pacing, character development, a bit more carrot than stick in the cutthroat manga business that requires simple-ish female leads. Trying to make us as clueless as the male lead is just frustrating for the average reader.

What? There's another one?

Maybe it'll solve my biggest problem with this series.
Previous chapter "explained" Yamada, made us understand her a little bit, but the series still didn't do the same for Hoshino. Like I said, I see no reason in all previous chapter for him to like her at all unless he is a masochist.

Will the supposed last chapter reunite the two and get them together?
Like, she was only mean with him this chapter because would be pointless to say she also like him, so she choose to left without saying anything but now that he went after her (skipping school?) she will accept him?
She'll just bully & mock him again. The end.

I think this was always planned as a short series, but if the author has any more ideas that he couldn't use in the serialization I believe he will probably use them on his live presentations. There is advertisement for a presentation with his partner dressed as the two characters at the end of next month, so I think the series ending now was planned.

This still sucks. She's still being a complete bitch...
Honestly at this point I think the guy has an honest to God humiliation fetish. She completely ignored his feelings and went straight to make sure everyone teased him about it.

Well I guess I'm the only one who enjoy this manga.
I enjoyed it too. Like it's clearly trying to be a more realistic (?) Nagatoro. This girl is actually bullying and gaslighting this dude. Not in a playful teasing manner. She actually made his school life actual hell

She's kinda like the main female character from Aku no Hana. Now this time skip would answer why is she acting the way she is. Really intriguing.

Like, her teasing him would've been one thing. Her all out tormenting him to a point that he needs to get therapy and it just being dropped is zzz.
That's why I love this manga. She's actually bullying him instead of just teasing him like the other teasing manga. And a neat detail I liked is the degree of bullying kinda decreased chapter by chapter. Remember, the first chapter had her extorting money from him. Actual character development
Or her proclaming to the class he confessed and a whole month being skipped in one panel. It tries to be so different but the payoff is the most generic and lame cop out writing.
Honestly think this is just because the manga was axed sadly.
You could take Yamada out of the manga and it would be the same, not kidding.
Not it's not.
Might just be due to this being Hoshino Disco's first work(?) and thus falling rather flat even if the idea/characters are pretty novel and good.
This one I agree. It's clear there's a lot to improve regarding the actual story.

Your underestimating how much it takes for a boy to like a girl. Especially at that age. She gave him attention and she's hot. That's enough for him to like her. I also think his indecisiveness made the teasing more fun for Hoshino. Like she can keep bullying this poor dude and he'll stick around because he likes her too much. But eventually she started to enjoy his company. Just look at how the bullying changed. She straight up extorted money from him in the first chapter to just spending time with him.

At that age, yes, but at this age in the last chapter... he kept obsessed with her for five years!
He is just a masochist with no dignity.

Is it not normal to remember your childhood crush? Because I still remember that 1 girl I crushed on in kindergarten. And i'm 27 now.

If I stopped caring about anyone else, didn't made any friends, talked with no one, and stalked or tried to stalk her for years only to like her even more when she discovered and looked at me with disgust, yes, it's not normal.

It had potential to be really good if it was allowed to have a full run. I don't need characters to be inherently likable to be invested. Stories from Oshimi Shuzo, Asano Inio, and others of the like show that. It was rough but it's not like there was no coming back from it with the right angle to write from. It's a shame, but I still want to see what the last chapter has in store.

Will the last chapter (13) be translated to English? I hope the series was not dropped.

Also, I get the feeling some people iin here assume 12 is the last chapter but there's another one. Not that the things you don't like about the story will change in just one more chapter, but still.
