You don't have to be ostracized by the other girls at school. If you just show your "real" self, the serious, hard-working self, then you'll be accepted.
This is chapter 71. Kobayakawa wanted to say that the part of her personality that he approved of was the "real" her while all the other parts that he didn't like were not "real". She specifically tells him that's stupid. At least, that's how I read it.
