although of course this varies from person to person, i’ve gotta say as someone who is relatively socially awkward, i want to experience some things that are scary to me but i don’t want to experience them alone if that makes sense, like i generally don’t want to sleep away from home, go to conventions, drink, stuff like that but with friends who you know will have your back and you know just want you to experience more stuff it’s great (the friend in question here is one i’ve had for 8+ years now probably and they KNOW i live under about 15 rocks)
it’s a little hard to describe without sounding self contradictory i think, but it probably boils down to being more brave and open to options that you wouldn’t be open to with support around you rather than alone
although you do have a point about ito/oto, what they do is a bit over the top, i think with people like noah where the tone (for me) felt a little more joking and closer to “i REALLY wanna see you cosplay” rather than “i’m not gonna do this this and this that you were looking forward to if you don’t cosplay” it’s fine, and it’s a great morale/self esteem boost to hear your idol want to see you do what you do, but i also understand that it is text and we can all interpret the tones very differently and none of us can entirely understand the intended tone of the author except them themselves
also to add on just one last thing, the reason why i think its more joking instead of basically blackmail is because not only is akiba somewhat into it, it’s moreso out of fear of judgement he’s not, they’re all also happy afterwards which that exact situation has happened to me multiple times before where i get “forced” to do something i’ve conditioned myself to not want to do but that i do want to do, and i have support around me to help me through
i think it’s reflected better since akiba especially is shown to be happy instead of stressing out, which i’d imagine is a sign of wanting to do this, just fearing being burned as a result
