I wish there had been another way to encourage him to go aside from guilt-tripping. Telling him that if he doesn't cosplay, then a famous cosplayer's all plans will be cancelled as well is a pretty brutish way to do it. I feel like Shibuya could have talked him into it normally. She means so much to him. Alas, those two new character, or specifically Ito, has been a bad influence on Shibuya. Ito is a childhood friend who doesn't feel like she needs to treat Akiba with any care whatsoever. Her extremely forceful and straightforward behavior has affected Shibuya as well, not in a good way.

That being said, this is just manga, and not any mental health heavy drama manga, so I suppose Akiba won't face at setbacks, no matter how much others push him forward disregarding his own opinions or hesitation. Nevertheless, in my opinion Shibuya and Akiba's relationship was a whole lot better before those two childhood friends appeared. Oto is okay, but Ito just doesn't care about anything but her own vision and desires.

although of course this varies from person to person, i’ve gotta say as someone who is relatively socially awkward, i want to experience some things that are scary to me but i don’t want to experience them alone if that makes sense, like i generally don’t want to sleep away from home, go to conventions, drink, stuff like that but with friends who you know will have your back and you know just want you to experience more stuff it’s great (the friend in question here is one i’ve had for 8+ years now probably and they KNOW i live under about 15 rocks)

it’s a little hard to describe without sounding self contradictory i think, but it probably boils down to being more brave and open to options that you wouldn’t be open to with support around you rather than alone

although you do have a point about ito/oto, what they do is a bit over the top, i think with people like noah where the tone (for me) felt a little more joking and closer to “i REALLY wanna see you cosplay” rather than “i’m not gonna do this this and this that you were looking forward to if you don’t cosplay” it’s fine, and it’s a great morale/self esteem boost to hear your idol want to see you do what you do, but i also understand that it is text and we can all interpret the tones very differently and none of us can entirely understand the intended tone of the author except them themselves

also to add on just one last thing, the reason why i think its more joking instead of basically blackmail is because not only is akiba somewhat into it, it’s moreso out of fear of judgement he’s not, they’re all also happy afterwards which that exact situation has happened to me multiple times before where i get “forced” to do something i’ve conditioned myself to not want to do but that i do want to do, and i have support around me to help me through

i think it’s reflected better since akiba especially is shown to be happy instead of stressing out, which i’d imagine is a sign of wanting to do this, just fearing being burned as a result

Aye, I also think generally speaking this is good for Akiba, especially in a manga setting like this, as in RL a school kid crossdressing publicly could potentially lead to a lot of trouble. However, when you consider his personality in general, which is pretty introverted and hesitant, I always felt like encouraging him to do new things is better than using any guile. Before the twins appeared, Shibuya also did push Akiba for her own selfish purposes, but she also did reward him by spending time with him, encouraging him greatly, making him be happy with his hobby, and also cosplaying with him. Who knows, maybe I just want to see romance between Akiba and Shibuya too much, so that I feel like her methods were automatically better than anyone else's, what comes to making Akiba cosplay more and more.

On the other hand, perhaps I just feel like things are proceeding unnaturally fast for someone who just a little while ago didn't want a soul to see his cosplay, including his own family so that he kept all the gear in a locked closet in the school club room.

Wait, I thought he gonna use name Ice as cosplay name. Well, Aki is fine, I think.

Thank you for the update!
