Took me checking the artworks three times, but... welp, she was wearing her neckerchief in the previous chapter and her braids extended to the bottom of her neckerchief, which is about 4"/10cm below her neckline and about 2"/5cm below the knot in her neckerchief; in this chapter she wasn't wearing her neckerchief and her braids ended about 2"/5cm below her neckline. It was somewhat hard to spot (at least for an inattentive wretch like me) due to the similarity in general placement and outlines.

talking about hair i never really understood why people want others to notice when they get an haircut.
sometime ago i went from having long af hair to a mohawk (now i have longish hair again) and nobody really bothered saying anything to me, which i feel is a good thing.

Imo getting praised for a hobby or work is way better, at least you're complimenting me for something i actually put some effort in instead of something i just paid an hairdresser for

i used to have a coworker who had hair so curly that when she tied it into a ponytail (which was often) it formed into a vaguely spherical shape that was 1.5x the size of her head and didn't even go down past her shoulders. i came into the office one day and after like 15-20 mins of talking i started to feel like something was off about the way she looked, though i couldn't quite place it.

it took me until lunchtime (~4-5 hours later) to realise that she had straightened all of her hair out and that her ponytail now reached over halfway down her back - and even that only came after one of the other girls in the team complimented her on what she did with her hair. suffice to say that the look i got after accidentally blurting out my (late) realisation made me want to disappear on the spot.

To be fair, the proportional change is more important than the total length. 2 inches off two feet is borderline unnoticeable, but 2 inches off 12 is a definitely more of a "whoa, that's a new look". And auburn-to-red depends on the lighting, ya know. and, and...

I was thinking of "she's falling for him at 5 cm/s"...but none of that quite works in context 🤷

And the big issue is that when people do braids, the length can change depending on how they do their hairstyle. So it sometimes takes a couple of days to realize the hair was cut short, not just a change in how they do their hair.
