It’s cute but if they wait to confess this long and they do it like this I’m gonna be disappointed. It’s romantic but it’s also a stolen idea. I expect more from both of them than leaving a sneaky note after she graduates.

We also don’t know how it went the last time this book was used (I’m betting she never saw that confession), so it might already be a cursed book.

I definitely know how she feels; I bought a used copy of a book that had gone out of print, and while it was in very good condition it had this dedication in it:

"To, Amy Christmas 2003
Love, <illegible>"

I have no idea why Amy got rid of it, or if they were even the last person to own it. It's just a small, unexpected glimpse into someone else's life.
I once found an old book with a dedication, too:

To, You Know Who
From, You Know Who

Very cute stuff

there’s a recycling center near where i live, and i occasionally go through their pile of old books. they often have all sorts of different personalizations, custom bookplates, marginalia, little notes that give a tiny pinhole into somebody else’s life, entirely devoid of context except for the fact that in the present, it has been discarded. I think about those books a lot. i feel like, given time, it’s not improbable that these little flecks of memory are the last things in the world that provide proof that someone once existed

Wow, that's really wholesome. Also, talk about a terrible cliffhanger, damn. A story no one will ever get to see the ending of...

I'm wondering if this will wrap up when she graduates? If she is going off to college and he is still at school, they can't go home together. I wonder if author-san planned it with a finite arc? Hopefully, it gets a happy ending either way.

The reference book sequence is so creative, it actually made me fucking squeal when Mr. Blue confessed. Aaahhh poor guy.
