The guys who did the kidnapping threatened them and said "don't go to the cops or something bad will happen." I'm guessing our characters were too scared and believed the threat, even though, realistically, there's no way they could know if MC has gone to the cops.

Bigger concern is probably how long it would take for the cops to arrive. I reckon they could rape Kohinata before the cops got there.

if they called the cops,.sure it would solve the kidnapping instantly but chances are they wouldnt have enough evidence to capture everyone of the gang since nothing much happened, so the chances of retaliation would be quite big.

And to make things easy,yes,this exact same reasoning is why NO ONE who isn't a 100% straight laced goody two shoes will ever trust the law in any form of entertainment media.

The law serves as a weak warning to those who simply do not care,for it can only be applied to crimes that have been caught in the act(never a guarantee)or crimes that have already happened(which is far too late),try all you want,you can't un-get it on like Dokey Kong.
