In most situations where the fighting experience is roughly the same it is. They have weight classes in fighting sports for a very good reason. I say this as a traditional karateka. Try sparring against a 30KG heavier opponent with ~same experience and you will change your opinion. Heck, even 10KG is much harder to manipulate. And if you're going defensive the additional weight helps them so much.
I mean, ever tried wrestling a kid? I can send a skinny teenager flying quite easily, but would hardly ever be able to do so against my heavier senpai.
