Hopefully, not soon. The title is Yaiteru futari. Futari means two. So the focus is the couple.
Also, adding kids ruin the wholesome feeling since pregnancy and taking care of baby are extremely stressful. They won't even have time for each other, especially when they are both working. Chihiro wouldn't be able to drink alcohol and has to avoid many foods.
Leaving kids to the last chapter, after a timeskip is better.

Well, i wouldn't mind but i don't expect it any time soon, there was one 'fantasy' he had about living with their kid and a big dog tho i imagine a pet would come first XD; Chihiro at least wants a cat

Because it's more fun with the next generation, and raising their children. You might as well why people ask for marriage, some people just date, or even remain fuckbuddies, some are even aromantic. People want the nice milestones of happy family.

Also having children means not being alone in you last years, and instead watching as kids have their own romances and later raise their own kids in turn. It's fine if someone doesn't want kids, or become a monk or nun if that's what they want, but it's not weird for readers to want the standard measure of happiness.
