This cancelled little mini-series is so emblematic of its publisher... A very interesting and ambitious goal cut short by the end of the horror boom.

Well, ALL KAIDAN ran for another 9 issues after this but this was the last time Hino published something new with them. The only other story of his in the remaining issues was a reprint of "Underwater".

These were like, his very last manga, right? Really sad how his popularity was going really down at the time.

These were published in 1998. Both 1999 and 2000 weren't particularly bad years in terms of Hino's output. He quit doing manga in mid-2001. His final manga works were A BOY'S DIARY (Garo), GO HOME (Horror M) and the TOMORROW'S HELL reboot in Super Horror.

My personal theory regarding HYDE-KUN is that it was a proposed series (three finished chapters and an outline is quite common when looking for a publisher) that Hino couldn't get published elsewhere.

Weirdly or maybe not so weirdly from about 2009 to 2015 Hino directed a series of extremely cheesy, soft core porno's with ever so slight tinges of horror elements. The web-site selling them is long defunct and for the life of me can't find any info on them now except one of them Bara no Meikyu. Can't remember how many he did and some were not in his given name which makes it even harder to track down.

If anyone wants Bara no Meikyu I can put it on mediafire/mega so you can watch Hino with your pants off.
