The distinction seems to be a more Western one. Idols don't just sing, but also act, and stream, among other things. The entire point isn't that they're limited to a job, but rather that they specifically use para-social relationships as their selling point. And a streamer is the online pinnacle of a celebrity using para-social relationships as a selling point.
