I remember reading this a while back in Japanese, and even now I still can't really understand the mother. There's almost no reason for her to act the way she does. She's not clinging to some high noble image -- she was a mediocre noble and married a damn commoner of her own volition.

What high horse is she even on?

IMO, she's a powerless twat that "Suddenly" gained some authority, and keeping the "commoner" down is one way to keep her newly eh, elevated status.

Basically went mad at the slightest taste of power.

Not exactly a fan of the sudden isekai as it generally kills of the original. (Part of why I'm so fond of novels like Isekai Tensei Soudouki is that it doesn't just write off the original but enhances 'em.)

her mother is literally a trophy wife and her father married her simply for her looks. The 3 of them have to pick up the slack of housework and it took them a year before they reached semi-managable but even then it pales in comparison to what the MC could accomplish by herself. Her father develop depression as well since his trophy wife can no longer maintain her looks and the family's reputation in is in tatters as the MC is well liked by everyone in the neighbourhood.

I'll read more, but I'm disappointed this is an isekai. Though I'm not sure the "original girl" is gone, it just seems like she gained the memories of the person she already was.
I do think it's bad the pigtails are gone. She had a rather unique look for a protagonist with them.

@FStubbs I think she is herself, in the last page she said: "That is what the other has taught me when her memories flowed into me".
It seems she acknowledge those memories as her past life but doesn't think of that girl as herself, or something like that.

But yeah, there wasn't any need for isekai in this story, at least right now :/
