@kaminomikan Honestly, I think the receptionist was probably well founded for what she did here. To her this basically ~14ish year old F rank swordsman (not even a thief or someone who specializing in stealth) who is just going on his
first quest is trying to tackle a mission meant for a full party of his rank. It's one thing to let people learn from their mistakes, it's another thing to be negligent towards her job (which would include making sure adventurers don't take on quests they can't handle) and let the kid die. Getting the guild master involved to tell her to let Lock do what he wants effectively means, "Yeah, his card says he's F rank but he's
really S rank, forget all your training and experience and make an exception for this guy but don't ask questions!"
The problem was that Lock's sense of danger and power has gotten pretty warped after protecting the world for 10 years straight without rest that he doesn't realize that even if he was allowed to go onto the quest, he'd probably be getting promoted almost immediately for soloing the quest, which would defeat the entire point of him starting from the bottom which he wanted to do.
