You can't just expect any sixteen year old girl to have a baby because they've reached an arbitrary age, they actually need to have developed enough to handle it. You need a robust body to even survive an attempt at pregnancy, let alone deliver a child successfully. That's true today, with our modern medicine and OB/GYN specialists and such, and it was certainly true in antiquity.
If anything I would argue that a sixteen year old capable of reliably and safely having a child (insofar as it's ever possible to safely give birth) would have to have been an early bloomer, though I'm no paediatrician so take that with a fistful of salt. I can, however, say with confidence that Estelle is on the other end of the curve, whether that be from malnutrition, mistreatment growing up, or just her own genetics.

Certainly I suspect the Duke would be ecstatic in his own way if she fell in love and gave him grandbabies, but not so much that he would push her into such a situation when she's not really ready. That kills people. A C-section is always an option, but it's not something one should count on before pregnancy gives you a few months deadline.

glad to know that but it's still squicky imo. I think I'd be less put off by it if he wasn't the first person she told about her mum abusing her/wasn't her protector knight for a pretty significant amount of time and then did a time skip. But what can you do, not as though they can change that now.

he's drawn that way so you guys react the way you do. but you forgot why she's too small for her age, he is a knight and does work a lot so he has bigger built. also... you just decide to forget their age everytime don't you? and It's this kind of setting guys. early marriage is a thing here

Um, I knew a girl in middle school who had a baby, like not even 14 years old. I knew a few in high school who had kids too, that age range is 14-18 years old. In 2017, a total of 194,377 babies were born to women aged 15–19 years. In the USA it happens a lot and is safer than say, having kids in your 40's. The problem is that most teenagers don't get proper prenatal care, they either don't realize they are pregnant or are scared to seek help because of social stigma or can't afford it or a combination of the three. 16 is not too young, biologically speaking, some girls have their menstrual cycles as early as 9 years old, their bodies would not be able to safely carry a child but a 16 year old is mostly grown. Hell, 16 is marriage age in many USA states.
BTW I don't think having babies that young is a good thing(morally or psychologically) I'm just saying it's possible and legal.

I'm not going to lie...I've been shipping them pretty much since the beginning and definitely since he got locked up as punishment and she brought him leaves for presents. That being said, I don't think he was hitting on her or any way showing attraction by the comment of protecting her kids. I think he just meant that she will probably come of age soon and will have a lot of suitors (I think they made reference to this before how people would look for ties to her family through her). She comes from a wealthy family with high social standing and isn't as intimidating as her brother or father (aka appears an easy target). I personally do hope they become a thing, but I don't think either of them have romantic feelings for the other at this time.

Just as it killed many young mothers, which is one of the reasons why the trend in antiquity of women marrying young has fallen out of favor, especially in developed countries.
Though, to be fair, she's free to make her own choices, even if those are terrible choices such as marrying and having children at sixteen, or marrying her guardian who knew her from when she was young and vulnerable. However I don't think it's right for Emiel to imply she'll be having kids soon when she is still one herself, because that's fucked up.

Very underwhelming ML so far, i don't mind the age-gap that wasn't the problem anyway but looking at the future story Emiel looks very dissapointing and underwhelming as ML... depressed alcoholic wtf? does he even have any charm as ML? even when she was child his papa & brother are cooler than him, i kinda understand why KR fans don't like him and it's like Estelle doesn't have anyone else (to love) but him because there's no other male in her circle lol, does this series have 2nd ML?
i love Carl and Annie! this seems a far better pair and seems to create far better love story than the main already lol
