Honestly I also think it makes sense that he would be more harsh towards the training knights, the castielos are known for being strong people why would they keep a weak knight around them.

Finally someone had the courage to ask the important question to Estelle, specially during this chapter I felt that her cutesy attitude was weird since she's already 16 and it's not like she's ever shown that she likes being spoiled instead what she really wants is the love from the people around her, I bet her dad and brother never said anything about it cause they find her cute and precious but wouldn't the rest of the people around her like the knights or workers of the house feel that it's weird? I'm happy that Anne said it and hopefully Estelle will reflect on herself.

Also about the ship (and I didn't read the raws) we all pretty much know about it, and it was already shown in previous chapters that Estelle is possibly the one that will fall in love first, that's all demonstrated by her attachment to Emiel and some tiny moments conversations she has with him. And he's older than her but not that much older. It's not that ridiculous of a ship, people change and the way we view them as well, they might not like each other now but it might change in the future. It works like that in real life why wouldn't it work like that in a fictional story? And even more a story set in a time where arranged marriages are a thing and big age gaps are common. (Again they're age gap is not that big)

I genuinely didn't understand their conversation. What exactly is going on? Aside from Anne criticizing Estelle's childishness, that part was hard to misunderstand.

@sketchy333 I agree, the pacing is all over the place. Like the author didn't quite know how to transition into the next arc (or even what exactly they want the next arc to be) so they're just throwing ideas around and wait for what sticks.

It's a bittersweet time skip. I wanted more loli-psycho-stelle like in the hunting competition. Well, hope we get some psycho vibes still.
Thanks for the release!

Oh yeah she was reincarnated right, seems like I'm the only one that forgot that fact and didn't find Estelle's behavior abnormal 😅

@NoSoup in my opinion their conversation was not that confusing... Estelle told Anne how she found this side of Emiel that she never thought could exist cause what she knows of him is this gentle and nice guy while everyone knew what he was like. So Anne justs asks how she feels about that which Estelle says she feels disappointed on herself - probably because it never crossed her mind that Emiel was treating her differently than how he treats others - which leads her to think that he only does that cause she's the daughter of the duke. And Estelle only wants Emiel to treat her that kindly and gentle if she's special to him and not because of her social standing.

@Kyujyu I also forgot that she was reincarnated 😂 I only found her behaviour weird this chapter since she's supposed to be more mature after the time skip but remained the same.

I realize that this is supposed to be a primitive society, and so it's probably understandable if he thinks that abuse like that is a valid training technique. Unfortunately, it's not. Even the army eventually learned that the abusive drill sergeant stereotype does more harm than good.
What that actually does is cull the people who don't already have the qualities of psychological grit and endurance, and probably reduces the useful lifespan of those who do.
If making people face hardship like that made them stronger, then the people fighting in the trenches of Verdun in 1916 would have been incredibly strong.

Also, I realize that Anne lived a life of two polar opposites, abuse and consideration, but she's absolutely wrong about love. People can fake love, I've seen it tons of times.

Even though I know the author isn't going to go the yuri route, Anne and Estelle are way better match than Estelle and Emil. They both come from similar backgrounds and have shared life experiences, they're both intellectual, and they care about each other as peers.

@NoSoup thank god i'm not the only one who was jarred by the pacing. opinions about emiel/estelle aside, i just think that estelle should have been more curious about him and look into his story earlier on. also, i felt like carlo's (carlos'???) graduation should have had more importance or significance to the story/char dev... now it just reads like awkward filler for awkward transition

@uMoonlight Thank you for your explanation, I finally get it. I guess I'm just dumb. 😅 I have to say, her concerns are legitimate...

@sketchy333 YES I was constantly expecting something big and bad to happen at the graduation ceremony, especially after that scene with the prince. But then, everything went smoothly and BOOM- time skip. Why did the author build up this graduation so much if it's only an uneventful checkpoint in the story?
Estelle's lack of investigating into Emiel's private life is especially jarring because she was always so curious about him before. In general, she didn't let things go and always tried to find out the truth herself so it is indeed weird that she never thought to watch him practice and interact with his fellow knights. Hopefully this (small) lack of coherent storytelling is just a phase...

Jesus christ you guys are weirdos. Why are you analyzing and explaining why Emiel's behaviour is wrong? Dude.
Grown-up Estelle is so cute! Thanks for the chapters!

It's so easy to forget that she's reincarnated, isn't it? I don't think it's been relevant at all for at least the last 50 chapters.

Does this story even require romance? I think it would be better without it. I don't really like any of the love candidates honestly, they're fine as their own character but not as a love interest.

The story title "I am a child of this house" I would just rather it be SoL with some political feel because their house is hated and feared. I want to see the father, son, daughter combo kick some noble ass.

I don't mind romance, but the time skip almost pigeon holes the story to focus on romance which is something I don't particularly like.
