I tend to agree with Darkwolfix. Seeing women repeatedly denied agency is disappointing. Not to mention, the emphasis on virginity is kind of gross. Virginity is a bullshit social construct. It's used to shame women for having sex, but hymens don't need to tear during sex and often tear for reasons other than sex. Having magic dependent upon this myth gives the idea more legitimacy than it deserves.

Uh...Wow. Yeah, mostly the same sentiments as the other comments. This is the prince acting pretty shitty. I haven't read the novel, but it sounds like the smut scenes that got cut out in an incredibly poor choice would've made this at least a bit better.

As it stands, she has no agency over her future, he doesn't put any value on her consent, and there's manipulation/pressure from all sides to force her into this.

If I were her, I'd probably consider branding over the mark with a hot iron or something to destroy it? This puts the prince in a bad place, but...well, fuck him. It's her body, she was never told nor given a reason to treat the mark responsibly, and this is her way out.

Also, if an intact hymen is all that took for her to be disqualified as a consort, you'd think she could've broken it on her own in secret.

To be fair people are forgetting that the actual sex was fully consensual (yeah the flower-you are mine forever thing was a little messed up but still). Since manga readers are not told what really went down there (the web novel has very CLEAR AND EXPLICIT CONSENT), the situation comes off as worse than it is.

I'm not the biggest fan of the series but people raising a hue and cry of "omg this is practically rape" are being a little presumptuous (though it's understandable because they didn't read the WN). Even in the manga you can make out that she actually didn't have an issue with him when they actually had sex.

Also, everyone people opposing the idea of virginity being a big deal are forgetting that most of the isekai take place in alternate versions of medieval or atleast regency Europe or something. And virginity WAS a huge deal back then.
