I've read the first 42 chapters, not sure how long this will go, maybe I'm doing this a bit too early but here is what I have to say:
From the cover alone you can tell that its a Solo Levelling ripoff/imitation, it very much is and its not really better in any way, tbh.
Premise:
The protagonist gets reincarnated into the body of a miserable guy who just died in another world after doing some ritual to summon an evil god to get a wish granted.
The evil god sort of hires him to complete 999 wishes of his, of course he'll give him powers in exchange for "souls" (basically points/exp) he gets from killing monsters.
This guy has A LOT of debt which is the factor that motivates him to get money.
At first this looked pretty good but after thinking about it, even the premise has a few indicators that this may not do well.
So he beats up some debt collectors, goes into a black market boxing match to get some money. Then he does something to increase the average score or prestige of his academy to get a special rock from his principal's office for the evil god.
Then some girl who is an heir to a big guild and also his childhood friend (he has absolutely no memory of) who saw him beat up some thugs at the black market district invites him to a prestigious adventurer academy place where they do stuff like a magic/skill assessment (whaddaya know? He's super duper special but nobody has any idea how special!) and students go into rifts pretty much unsupervised (whyyy?).
Everything from there is basically Solo Levelling (I'm not kidding, though it looks different, fundamentally its the same thing except he's slightly more overpowered in terms of combat and less versatile. Also the story and world-building are weaker)
Even the academy setting is super weak. No need for school life tag (why is it even called an academy?). Absolutely no romance yet, its just her liking him because she thinks he's strong and will be useful to her. Also I guess he's more like her only hope?
All of his relationships are based on either intimidation or people liking him because he's strong, useful or let them slack off a bit.
Not enough information is given about anything to get really immersed in this.
Sometimes its like the only extra thing the evil god knows are names and rarities of powers. Isn't it his system? Why's he surprised by everything? The story said that the evil god is the book but the description... something's off?
Backgrounds appear to be typical.
After getting a few scratches from every first/new thing he has basically no struggles for the rest.
Did I mention that he also has a sick hospitalized mother and a sister who hates him? They're just ignored after the two chapters they're in. How nice of him to move the mother to a better ward without even telling the sister.
I think making it a reincarnation story made it worse.
I did think that the red book with eyeball design for the evil god looked kinda good.
His class is supposed to be "Apostle" which I thought was unique and interesting as it kinda linked to the evil god. His powers are dark shadowy tentacles that can easily kill most living beings and can be used to automatically mine crystas in caves, doing necromancy (of course with purple colour), etc.
I guess the black market stuff was sort of interesting but really nothing.
Another thing that kinda got my interest at first was the crafting but now its just meh.
Maybe it's just me but the names of some ingredients and some of the dialogue kinda implied there's more to the gates, monsters and deities but there's barely anything.
Using one wish to give him restrictions for a day was good but I guess it also means he already has enough power that ruins the story by removing most of the challenges.
This guy's kinda an a-hole but I guess so is the world. Morals are kinda all over the place with him.
Side characters are NPCs.
Barely any storytelling and it doesn't even have good hype/aura moments.
I guess there were a few funny moments.
Idk why I even got into this. Its nothing special. Almost no emotional conflicts, not enough struggle and no growth. Just another lame power fantasy where some stuff happens.
At least that's what I think after reading the first 42 chapters. Who knows? Maybe I'm overthinking or maybe it'll get better soon?
