Nah, I like the emperor. The emperor's job is to continue being emperor. He isn't on anyone's side, and since the Angenas are so dumb as to antagonize the Lombardis, it lets him play both side against each other at no cost to himself. He has his own ego and he doesn't like how independent the Lombardi's are, but he still treats them with respect. He only strong-armed them this time because he had a lot to gain from the Angenas for it, and he still got a valuable trade out of the deal by reinforcing the 2nd prince's claim. Which is good for him because it causes more chaos for the succession. And a chaotic succession is one that no one wants to hasten, which means he stays as emperor longer.
