@knightdtd, I am not a lawyer, however I took some legal courses that went over cases in review. In my opinion if the MC sheltering this girl were to be brought to court... the MC will take full blame. At least in America, minors are vetted to ensure they are competent witnesses before testifying. Assuming Japan is roughly similar, which it isn't but for the sake of this narrative let us pretend, should Sayu be allowed to testify, the court may hear her case but not listen to it. Courts of your peers are emotional, the fact in the courts' mind regardless of Sayu's testimony would be that the MC was caught cohabiting with a delinquent underage minor. I assure you the majority of people would be suspicious that an illicit sexual relationship was taking place between the two and that the MC was grooming Sayu. Just a short list of potential charges brought against MC: Aiding and Abetting, Unlawful Harbor of a Minor, Grooming of a Minor, Rape of a Minor. In the wrong state here in America, you will be facing Life without possibility of Parole or even the Death Sentence. If you avoid those sentences, then you're still facing several tens of years in prison. Even if Sayu says, "I never had sex with MC, I had sex with X, Y and Z", chances are the court will still punish MC to the fullest extent possible and then POTENTIALLY follow up with the other dudes. Though typically this would be an open-and-shut case with zero follow up. Catching the perp red-handed so to speak.
