I’m going to be nasty, but why does the two friends have to be there when she introduces her partner to her dad? It’s kind of annoying that they’re always there. Ik it’s for plot reasons, but even inviting friends to their date felt kinda too much.

It's because she thought they were a lesbo couple too. She wanted backup just in case. In her mind, 4 out of 5 people seated around that table are gay. She's trying to acclimatize her dad.

Debatable, since everyone (except Benika) has someone that's keeping them from blowing this powder keg outright.
Dad is worried about Rose for sure, maybe Gina too if he remembers about her, but he probably doesn't want Benika and Hibai (who to him should be 'normal') to panic.
(there's also his seal of confessional that would mean he can't out Rose as THE hitman from confession booth)
Rose obviously want to protect Benika and Dad and is wary of the 'church agents' (hah)
Both Gina and Hibai are wary of Rose and each other respectively.

So I don't think this group of people will cause restaurant chapter 2.0

The archbishop's exploding rosary on the other hand might just do it.

100% correct take. I already was annoyed when Benika randomly had a "work wife" (best way I can put it with their dynamic) that was developed off-screen, !without Rose knowing! and we just had to believe it. I was still slightly annoyed when Benika became overly trusting of both randoms in 2 chapters to a point where she goes behind Rose's back multiple times and even her dynamic with Rose changed slightly due to it.

But them being there 24/7, every chapter, in the most important moments and Benika literally being hopeless and nonfunctional without them around is indeed feeling kinda too much.

Apart from that, I still like how most of the story went the past some chapters and am happy the author decided to go for the more intense route at times. Still sad about how the relationships played out, tho.
