It's so unfortunate that the author had to shove so much of Violet into like a dozen pages, because as-is this feels like she absolutely deserves no sympathy or redemption for her actions here.
And it's entirely because it all had to be rushed and truncated into a single chapter, but her going from "let the town burn and the people die and Frost and the dragon kill one another, I'll just take over after, don't go helping them" to "oh woe is me, I cannot let my past constrain me! Please, go help them before it's too late!" just ....feels so bad to have to stomach. If this were just how she was written as a character, I'd want her to lose everything just on the back of being that petty and obstinate and bitchy toward everyone else.
I'd have loved to see her get a fuller arc where her turnaround at least made more sense in terms of the actual timeline of things, but. What can you do.
