Not surprised this got axed unfortunately - felt like the writer got a lil too wrapped up with introducing and toying around with many different elements (the town's economic/social collapse, Dahlia's Whole Thing, the Main Conceit Of This Manga, Frost's backstory) in a way that could not justify fitting it altogether, making it so mushy and gormless as a result. This was even before the impending axe forced them to hasten the whole thing just to wrap it up too.

Only reason I kept along was cause the characters were still kinda fun and Sometime's artwork was really good.

A lot of yuri is catered to men not lesbians. Which is why I absolutely detest a lot of yuri. And then one comes along that doesn’t seem to cater to men with a lesbian fetish—and it gets axed.
And this kind of mentality is why yuri will never end up catching fire.
Straight? Everyone supports and buys. BL? Everyone supports and buys.
Always walk their talk. Meanwhile with yuri?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO IT'S NOT THE RIGHT YURI NOOOOOOOOOOO IT'S FOR LE MALE GAZE NOOOOO IT WAS WRITTEN BY A MAN AND NOT BY A REAL LESBIAN NOOOOO IT WAS WRITTEN BY A HETEROSEXUAL WOMAN DOESN'T COUNT BAAAAAAAAAAW IT WAS WRITTEN BY A MAN HATING FEMCEL BAAAAAAAAW HOMOPHOBIA BAAAAAAAAAAAW WHY ARE WOMEN BUYING BL INSTEAD OF YURI BAAAAAAAW THAT SERIES WOULD BE BETTER IF IT WERE YURI WHY AREN'T YOU SUPPORTING YURI YOU [INSERT INSULT HERE] BAAAAAAAAW BAAAAAAAW BAAAAAAW
Alway a but, always a if, it's never "right" it's never "good enough. Always someone else fault. Asterisk hovering eternally over everything that comes out.

And the ironic thing is that yuri's current state is MILES ahead of where it used to be. Makes me wonder how these crybabies would be if they had actually had go live through those times just one or two decades ago. Wouldn't have been able to endure even a second of the pain the people who liked yuri back then had to go through.

And not even a industry issue only btw. Happens in fandom, too. I had the misfortune of chancing on the AO3 top most written ships thing not long ago and and holy hell drama beyond description and fucking awful discourse there over the F/F stuff. This exact same shit except x1000 twitter and tumblr flavored. Utter hell and misery.

It's so tiresome.

ahistoric and categorically untrue. the vast majority of yuri authors are women/lesbians and audience demographics are majority women / queer people.
I just highly doubt that. When you look at the yuri that are popular in Japan and their fanbase and authors it’s often leans heavily male. It’s gotten a lot more fair, but still.

Yeah I’m not going to force myself to read pure lesbian fetish crap. Just like a lot of gay men don’t read yaoi because a lot of it is pure fujoshi stuff.

While it's true that much of older yuri were catered to the male gaze and fetishized lesbianism, yuri as its own genre had always been historically catered towards women—and it still is today with few notable exceptions as the male readership increased. So the majority-male readership is simply difficult to confirm, even more so with the increasing diversification of yuri artworks these past 10 years or so.

The problem is less in the genre itself or its demographic, but more the culture that underlies the creations. Japan was, and still is, very patriarchal, and the women who create and consume the yuri media are not exempt from the preconceptions that this gave birth to. It's only in the recent decade that cultural evaluation became a widespread thing among the young, which was why modern and contemporary yuri are generally more aware of issues that pertain to equality, openness to discussions about sex, and the like. It's only these days that mangakas realize they're depicting a real subset of people, and as our understanding increased, so did theirs.

I was trying to be optimistic last chapter… but yeah, the writing was on the wall. The axe is unfortunate, but I hope next chapter at least manages to wrap things up neatly. The side couples deserve some moments, maybe a kiss or two, and of course, the main couple needs that. I doubt it will be such a nice ending, but a girl can dream.

Anyway, thanks for the translation!

??? Dude come on it’s a yuri that advertises itself as a yuri, why would it fail because of homophobia? There’s an established audience for yuri and it failed with that audience.

I get you guys are mad at the axe and how often Yuri specifically gets it but Christ get it together
ok, ok. the real reason is that its not generic highschool yuri

There are hundreds of yuri out there, y'all can't expect each and everyone of them to be successful, it's silly
