And here comes the villain assumptions, based on not understanding good people.

I kind of disagree. While I can understand sympathy for him, he went too far. He's the callous and cruel one. Well, obviously not the only callous and cruel one, considering what happened in the past.

But yeah, it does feel rather rushed, especially compared to how complex all relations are, what happened, and the plan he had. Those things need more space to develop, but I feel it was just flashback-revealed and then solved without digging too deep into it.
Is he callous and cruel or was he made into someone callous and cruel? If I was in his position the crashout would be worse.

No matter how you were treated, you're still responsible for your own actions. If someone hits you and that angers you, you're not entitled to hit someone else just because you're angry.

with how many manga/manhwa i read these few years, this fast-paced resolution is actually refreshing.

reasonable crashout, yes.
killing the crown prince is fair, not so much.

the villain here is the late king. the current king share the blame too for giving the poisoned tea
(because cmon. a royalty who just believe in everything while living in a political hell?).
crown prince didn't do anything.

but again, reasonable crashout.

even if Duke didn't kill the Prince, he is weak enough to handle worse time after that.
do you think people would trust A prince from a stupid and weak king that have been chosen by Evil Late king as rightful ruler?

people going to riot and country would be split apart anyway. having Violet rise to succession is the best way for country and his revenge.

The great successor is Violet, the magic genius,.the very thing of Late king hate and reject sit on his Throne, while his descendents of magic less that he loves, perish. it basically pissing on late king grave.

Prince is rightful successor, he need to be removed to so Violet be the Queen as she is next in line after Duke dies.

Plus it king stupidity that cause Duke loss his child and wife. "yeah, my father hate my brother, even forces him give up his right as heir so i can become next king. he wanted to give secret give to my sister in law. guess that must be a good think". his stupidity and incompetency cause death to his own sister in law and niece/nephew.

a child for a child. the prince is innocent? so do Duke unborn child and wife. its fair for Duke took something from King as he did took something from him.

oh, about lily territory suffer famine but no help come kingdom because the King give help to his close crony first. basically family that close to late king were given first priority while other domain were sidelined.

had the Duke become King, they wouldn't suffer such fate. all of this reveal when Duke plan work out will make people abandoned Royal family and Chose and support Violet as she is student of Duke and acknowledge as Genius Mage. he wanted revenge but not at cost of kingdom falling to ruin as people are innocent.

I dunno. I get that he had a bad life and it sucks that your wife gets poisoned by your father. But none of that appears to have had anything to do with his sister. Who he seemingly killed just as a by product of his stupid plan. And i just can't muster any sympathy for him because of that.

He killed her in a pretty shitty way too. Slowly wasting away in front of her family, going over to "help" your brother in law as your sister begins losing her mind as the "illness" gets worse, also her 5 year old daughter (who doesn't appear to have been treated poorly in any ways despite being magic so...his sister didn't take after their father) is watching all of this. Dude killed his own sister in a worse way than his father killed his wife.

I definitely feel like I'd have understood his anger and need for revenge more if they'd hinted at the situation with his wife before this.

I don't know if it's could be counted as a hint, but when I read in batch, from ch. 8 to this chapter, I noticed the royal family line at beginning of the ch. 11 and that's one of the clue for me.

The plot plan is p decent but the resolution feels very shit. I still sympathize more with the villain more than the protagonists. While I do understand why everything is unfolding this way, including them refusing to kill archduke, I still hope that the archduke finds a way to end his life on his own terms or get anything on his terms. It’s very callous and cruel for them to treat him like his father did, not taking into account his wishes (although the protagonists doing this is justified as opposed to his father doing what he did). Maybe if this ending wasn’t so rushed and was fleshed out a bit more, it wouldn’t feel as bad, but it really just feels like they’re brushing over all that happened to him.
What happened to him was tragic, I agree, but his actions completely remove any and all sympathy for him from my book. He killed his innocent sister, taking away his innocent neice's mother, and tried to kill his innocent brother's innocent son (aka his nephew), all because his father (who is already dead) didn't love him enough. Even the added knowledge that his wife miscarried due to tea leaves from his father doesn't make my sympathize with him, and my wife had a late miscarriage of our first child and it nearly killed her and damaged her to the point she'll never have kids. So I get that pain, but it doesn't excuse his wanton murder of completely innocent people just because he's sad.

Sophia lost her mother and was literally treated like a slave by her own father, locked away into a cellar, by that comparison, the Archduke had it nice. His dad didn't love him, but he wasn't starved or FORCED to work unlike Sophia. Yet, Sophia, having been through a worse childhood, only wants to help people, and the Archduke wants to kill innocent people. His freedoms ended the moment he infringed on the freedoms of others. Fuck him straight to hell.

HUH ? Full resolution in 15 chapters ? Surely this isn't a 15 chapter manga, but then what of the plot now ? Will they just somehow have him escape and scheme again or how will they do any more content
This is just the first arc.
According to the webnovel it has more plot after this (I didn't read it though I just looked at the Table of Contents).

Meh. They're all aristocrats, they should all go to the gallows as soon as possible.
