I think the premise and the general plot points are fine - an awkward spontaneous engagement with an idol plus becoming a manager for a misjudged disgraced rival can make for some fun storytelling. However this writing is just so wishy-washy. The imposed sex restriction feels contrived. An organic process of warming up to each other gradually would feel more natural and endearing, plus it fits both MCs personalities. Of course the author can't arbitrarily hold of sex until marriage and her retirement if they went that route, at least without making the MCs annoyingly shy or prudish.

This chapter just served to cement my opinion that the author can't iron out the plot details and motivations in a believable manner. Like others said, MC's reasons for helping the rival aren't well thought out. I can feel the author is gonna write themselves into a bunch of corners and will have to resolve plot threads with unsatisfying handwaving. On top of all of that, there's the spoiler stuff people have been mentioning, which brings a much more serious tone to the story. This feels out of place with how the story has been developing so far - which isn't in itself an issue, there are a plenty of good stories that alternate between goofy and heavy serious. But I feel like you have to earn that through better writing than what we are seeing so far.

I'll keep an eye on this one out of curiosity, but I really don't expect much from it.

I am already borderline ready to drop this after looking at chapter 11 but just wanted some clarity from somebody that perhaps knows the novels?

If I understood well, she willingly dated him (that’s the guy with her you see in this chapter), then he raped her and blackmailed her with the tape, she had to hide so the tape didn’t leak and destroy to whole band. That’s what she explained to the big dude in the end of this chapter, that’s why he’s getting angry

Pretty sure that isn't the case, I mean the narration says that she finished "revealing a secret" and the Boss most likely finished talking to Kirara about her story after her getting terminated from the company, so the person the boss was referring to might be the Boyfriend who leaked their Sextape?

I think this is close, but I don't think it was her boyfriend. I think she was probably coerced into something with the guy through threats (I would guess from her previous manager) and due to how the information leaked they did immediate damage control to help the rest rather than learn the truth.
It's Japan where Idols are made up of dreams and rainbows and can't be human and have relationships or no purity since that no longer sells. Isn't that still an issue today in Japan instead of being fake drama and cancel culture like in America?

Yeah it's one thing to be annoyed at the culture and how utterly backwards it is, it's another to say it's not realistic when unfortunately it is. This shit happens all the time and will continue to happen for the foreseeable future. It's a shitty dumb standard but it's their shitty dumb standard and we're the ones reading the series that's set in that culture.

This is dumb beyond words. First, because it indulges in that whole idol purity bullshit as the biggest roadblock for Kirara. Oh my god, she had sex! Now she can't sing and dance anymore! Oh, wait. No. Turns out having sex doesn't rob you of your musical talent, it just makes you unpopular to weirdo purity-worshipping incel losers who can't cope with the idea that a person they like in a creepy parasocial way has a life outside of them.

Meanwhile he's going to be her manager, something the actual boss doesn't want and actively opposes, but somehow what's going to convince everyone to let him have the job is that he's setting conditions for his acceptance (which is silly considering you normally only have the leverage to set conditions when you are desired for the job, not when you're begging for it) two of which are a) I need to find out if I can even do this without getting fired from my real job and b) I need someone to teach me everything about doing this job that I just recklessly signed up for.

And then all of this is for the photos of him and Hebo, which he needs because he wants to marry her? That basically makes the photos irrelevant. Because 1) the photos get out and she would presumably stop being an idol because of the aforementioned purity bullshit or 2) the photos don't get out, but they would not be able to marry while she was an idol because of, again, the aforementioned idol purity bullshit. It's laid out directly in the second chapter that she would have to "graduate" before marrying.

They need to do this because it's the only way to maintain the drama and tension that the story requires outside of just focusing on the two of them getting to know each other, but it's so silly and artificial that it makes me not give a crap.

That purity bullshit will continue as long as idols are marketed toward that demographic and complaining here wouldn't do anything.

Also did you not read the chapter? Manager aren't rejecting her for some purity stuff, but because she should've asked that 2 years ago and started repairing her reputation instead of disappearing into the void without any clarification.

If you don't want to keep the "pure" image, then don't present yourself as an idol.
You can be a normal singer or performer instead, people (mostly) don't mind if you have a boyfriend or two.
