It always hurts seeing an interesting manga get an entry on Mangadex and yet (once again) you are met with the unfortunate reality that it has ZERO translations posted with it. I'm not saying translators are obligated to pump out shit for the masses, but I just don't get why we're being blueballed like this on a bunch of different stuff.

Like, for the love of the high seas,we need a tag that denotes chapterless and missing chapter series so we can avoid this level of scurvy by disinlcuding them.

Seeing as Mangadex has completely butchered all meaning with the "Ongoing" and "Completed" tags.

Or,you know, not allowing a series to be on Mangadex until AFTER the scanlator has posted the series in English.

AFAIK "Ongoing" and "Completed" refers to the actual material's run-time, as in whether or not new chapters are still being published in a magazine or uploaded online officially, not whether or not the fan translations are caught up with the work as a whole.

But yeah, I am 100% advocating for the latter solution, what I don't know I'm missing out on won't hurt me.

And that's the problem.

It is nigh impossible to seperate the two and actually expect the completed ones to be complete,Baka Updates uses "completely scanlated",which makes way more sense.

I couldn't care less if the series is actually done when searching, because we already have the "End" title tag which covers that aspect already along with the final chapter line(which is often neglected).

So we need "Ongoing" and "Completely Scanlated" at the least, and ensure that the final chapter is marked with "End",that's all.

I believe it's cause the entry is made by people who want people to know it exists, or people who plan on uploading it, but didn't finish their translation yet (does happen occasionally)
and to respond to the other issue, the main issue with tracking translation progress is that mangadex supports multiple languages, which means it'd need to differentiate between all of them, which is extra work to set up and design around (not to mention skipped chapters and whatnot, also hampered by weird chapter numbering and other issues), so it just never became a thing. Actual series progression is at least viable to track, and can tell you how many chapters will be there.

There's also other issues of chapters being retracted, and once again, other languages (tho in this case, no chapters in any language have been posted yet, or they've since been deleted, I wouldn't know).
And personally, I believe there is more benefit to being able to create titles without needing to post chapters since it'll at least mark it for sake of the records (on the author's page for example) and help people know of it, rather than make some uploader do it, who knows when, if they even know it exists

Considering that other languages aren't even a factor to begin with, because no one will ever be able to state that English isn't the most important language of the them all.

So long as the English side gets the no chapters available system/tag,then all is swell, the other people can simply use the established international language as is should the English version come out or enjoy whatever language is available.

As for the sake of records,Baka Updates exists and is far better as a record keeper then MangaDex ever will be,only a moron of an uploader/scanlator would not use it and/or contribute to it,and its' probably second only to whatever dedicated Moon Rune language version of Baka Updates exists.

I need not know what "hot, new, freshness" some author has on MangaDex if I can't even bloody read it once it has been added to MangaDex.
