I hate it when starters evolve. You have to to keep using them, but they just all look so really really bad (in comparison). Torchic's [line] was a particularly large disappointment

Damn, this story is such a joke. I was worried her trauma was written so extreme that it would feel contrived for her to overcome it too easily simply by having Yuri's aid. But I never imagined in the next chapters the whole debilitating trauma is like it never existed. I guess in the author's textbook of shoujo tropes there was no chapter for dealing with an excruciating trauma and thus the author had to go this way.

Perhaps I will eventually learn my lesson and keep my expectations at the bottom.
