The total flip in tone is crazy.
Even the random guards from a few chapters ago appeared again, recognized Cleo and were glad to see him doing better, and are even trying their best to help out with the city.
There's people still trying despite how fucked up the situation of the continent is. It's not all doom all over.
We seriously got gaslighted hard.

I knew it was in another continent. Kohaku even alluded to that long ago as Cleo mentioned in this chapter.:win::wooow:

Yeah, that's why I lean towards it's probably Kenrose-poppa.
But seeing the K-man himself would be so cool, part of me is hoping that all those raiders just KO-ed each other trying to hit him, as was his style, or something, instead.

Honestly, I thought it was hilarious. It was more like Nanao owning up to it all and going "psych! LOL!"
Also with the way things have gone in helck, even something like a smell of rot left unexplained could lead to something devastating. So I figure its also Nanao cutting off anything on that front too.

After these few chapters as someone didn't read on the fly, the covert art spoils the plot twist :)

I've always thought of this as a prequel to Helck, since the surreal sword wars were mentioned as happening in the by past by Azudora (iirc) and the Northern threat isn't present in this series. Kenros or his dad making an appearance now would make sense to me.
This is the sequel….

Not necessarily. Volume 8 contains chapters 1-8 of Act II, so the cover art is, presumably, meant to reflect how we see Kohaku in the early parts of the volume.

The war azudora was in wasnt the surreal sword wars, it was simply human war.

The northern threat isnt present because its on another continent, where Helck takes place.
Okay word that makes more sense. Guess I've been confused for 5 years whoops

Its nice to see everyone moving forward together again. Though the extra page makes me feel a bit conflicted. Like "nonono it wasn't a lie of midirection for the audience, there just so happened to be a pile of corpses nearby! See everyone is happy! ignore the corpses." At least the Nanaki is aware of it, I guess. Just leaves me feeling a bit awkward about it.
i kind of took it to be a delusion of cleo who was giving into despair as well as starving, thirsty and tired. basically his mind telling him "see there's no point in looking to revive kohaku, she's not special and will decay like anybody else. give up"

If not Kenrose, could it be the Empire Guardian King?

I've finally catched up with the manga and to say that the last few chapters were a wild ride is an understatement.

Nanaki is really good with this kind of stuff, huh.
