This is a story about people in a way most aren’t. It’s one of those rare ones where the characters feel like someone you could know or meet. They have a depth you can’t boil down into some character traits and tropes.
I will say, I was looking for romcoms and this isn’t one. The romance has nothing to do with the fundamental story arc, it’s just another layer of detail. That’s an issue to do with categorization, not the story itself though. As someone else said, mangadex needs a found family tag.
It’s a bit astounding just how many things this manga touches on. The exploration of grief and loneliness is sort of comprehensive to put a label on it. It’s as if the author was scraping every last bit of ice cream out of the carton, but delicately placing it into a bowl, to share with us I guess 😅.
Reading this story made me incredibly happy. I’m sad it’s over, but it needed to end, because that’s the kind of story it is.
Also this story is a treat for writers or those interested in writing. Words are so much fun, and the author seems to be someone who understands this. The translation was also very good (even with occasional errors, because they got everything right where it matters).
