Honestly, good on the guards for knowing his job right the first time, even if they felt the need to check other options.

After knowing about all the huge benefits, how can they not use them? Especially the white mage-lady, with how utterly outmatched she is in terms of usefulness.

Boatswain is pronounced "BŌ-s'n" and often misspelled as "bosun."

Thanks for getting the spelling right!
I really love it when things like "Foke-sell" is properly spelled "Forecastle," and "cock-sin" is properly spelled "Coxswain."

Just one of those great little details that I really like seeing; thanks!

I also noticed the impressive ballista onboard
It's best if it never has to be used.
Chekhov's Ballista checks out.

Made from the bones of a sailor's devoted wife.
Ayo, hol' up. Human remains had to be desecrated to make that. Not saying Gaile did it, but the poor woman's grave was possibly destroyed or robbed for that to happen. Best case, she became undead from resentment which allowed him access to her bones, but damn no RIP for her.

So it's the Kraken. No way there's been that much foreshadowing on it for it NOT to appear at this point.
